Just wanna try

Kageyama nearly choked on a piece of popcorn he had put into his mouth. “What?”
“Well, I just mean… did you consider it could be a guy?” Hinata pressed on.
“I- no I guess I hadn’t. But if it is a boy that makes things so much more difficult. It increases the pool by fifty percent, and decreases the chances of them actually liking me back quite a bit as well.”
“I guess that is true.” Hinata sighed. “A guy liking a guy isn’t that uncommon is it? I mean, we know some. Kenma and Kuroo…”
“Yamaguchi…’ Kageyama stated, “Do you think it could be Yamaguchi?”
“What?” Hinata asked. “No no, Yamaguchi likes-” Hinata trailed off.
“Likes…?”
“I shouldn’t say. It doesn’t matter, they’re already together.”
Probably Tsukishima. Kageyama thought but dismissed it. He hated the kid, almost as much as Tsukishima hated him, but if Hinata wanted him to know he would tell him.
“Well… do you know anyone else?”
Hinata looked panicked for a moment but quickly replaced it with a calm pondering of the notion. “Um… me.”
Kageyama’s eyes darted towards Hinata. “What?”
“Uh,” Hinata laughed nervously and scratched the back of my head. “Well, yeah kinda it’s not like you’d love me anyway though right!” Hinata was speaking at a million miles per hour, looking anywhere but at Kageyama.
Kageyama pondered the thought. He remembered the first time they had ever met, at a middle school volleyball tournament. How mad he was at the little orange-haired boy even though he could never actually score a point, and how somewhere deep down he really impressed with the boy’s spirit. He was impressed with the way he was always enthusiastically bouncing around the court, ready to take on guys like Ushijima or Lev, who had an unmistakable advantage over him. He was impressed by the fact that he could and had actually beaten those people, despite the height difference. He was impressed by Hinata’s height, and on very rare occasions found himself wanting to tousle the smaller boy's hair. Hinata was his best friend. He never even considered the idea that maybe they could be more than just friendship between them. Not consciously anyway. Seldomly he would wake up in the middle of the night, clutching his pillow, with the ghost of an impossible scenario in his mind.
So what is there actually between them? Kageyama didn’t know. All he knew was that his stomach was killing him, and his best friend sat in front of him with big, eager eyes, and a heart searching for an answer.  “Can I try something?”
Hinata’s eyes widened. “Please don’t beat me up. I’m sorry, we can forget I ever-”
“Shut up Hinata.”
“Got it.”
Kageyama scooted over to where Hinata sat and leaned in until he was maybe a centimeter away. He stared at the freckles on the bridge of Hinata’s nose, and how they made him feel. How do I feel? It was hard to differentiate if the funny feeling in his stomach was from the fact that he was about to kiss his best friend or if he was about to throw up all over him. He pressed on anyway. “Is this okay? I just want to try it.”
Hinata’s face heated up immediately and his eyes darted across the room nervously. “Yes.”
So Kageyama closed the gap. Hinata’s lips were soft and welcoming. Kageyama noticed some of the tension leave Hinata’s scared shoulders as he began to press forward too, ever so slightly. Hinata brought his hand up to Kageyama’s hair, and that weird feeling in Kageyama’s stomach increased by a million. I’m kissing Hinata. He thought with disbelief, and just as quickly as it began, the kiss had ended. Kageyama remained sitting in front of his friend and hid his face by putting his forehead on Hinata’s shoulder, so he was looking down at their hands. Hinata’s hand was still stroking his hair.
“Was it… bad?” He asked.
“What? Are you kidding me?” Hinata laughed, “That was um… wow.”
“Wow?”
“Wow.”
Kageyama lifted his head to a beaming Hinata, who ruffled his hair and giggled. To Kageyama, it sounded like sunshine, and he began to giggle as well. Then it gradually increased into loud, unstoppable laughter. The boys collapsed into each other, laughing so hard they were unable to breathe and stayed like that for God only knows how long. Before they knew it, the movie had played all the way through, and the credits rolled while they lay asleep in each other's arms.
