The week passes extremely quickly. Rhea arrived at the hospital and accepted the barest of minimum care. She is now home and refusing further aid.
"How's Rhea?" Shotzi asks.
"She's still healing but she's on a warpath to destroy all who wronged her. She says she's going to reign down vengeance and the fury of hell itself on them." You answer.
"Well it's good to know she's back to normal," Shotzi says. You nod in agreement.
Hair and makeup are completed and you leave to seek out Damian. He usually loves seeing you dolled up for your matches and compliments you. Something you'd enjoy even more so tonight as you're nervous about your match. Still, he's been acting a bit odd as of late. He hasn't even tried to seduce you for the sake of "mutual bonding." Sometimes you wonder if he watches too much Animal Planet, or if he watches it at all.
You find him sitting in the darkness of his dressing room. Not opting to share one tonight with you. You turn on the light and it flickers back off. "I prefer darkness." He says.
"But how can you see my gear and hair?" You ask.
He replies with silence.
"Why are you being so cold to me, I haven't done anything to you?" You ask outright.
"You've done everything to me. You've taken my pride, and my time." He answers standing. Taking a tone he's only taken with you when he's truly upset.
"Is this about last week with the scent?" You ask.
"It was more than a scent. Ricochet was in that closet, I could smell him all over it." He answers. "Why would you hide him from me?" He asks.
"I didn't want you being upset. All he did was bring me some flowers, flowers I turned down. I haven't done anything." You answer.
"That's the problem. You haven't done anything. You could have stopped him then just like you could have stopped him before. It's like you're addicted to him." He replies.
"First of all you bargained me to him in the first place. Secondly, you're acting like I slept with him or something!" You reply.
"Tell that to someone else." He says continuing to arrange the trinkets on his desk.
"You're not going to do this to me. You're not going to make this something I did wrong, if you want to break up then be a man and say so!" You say. "It's not like I trusted you to stay long as is." You mumble folding your arms.
"I'm not the one who cheated. You cheated with him and you want to know how I know? I couldn't smell lust anywhere in that closet but it was in that room. I didn't know for a fact until I surveyed the center for places where your scent was near his. Not only did you cheat with him you cheated with him AND he didn't actually want you. He used you!" He announces.
You're left without words. You summon the truth, "That's not what happened...." You begin.
Damian gives you a look, "He came to me in the shower and I made him leave. He tried but I turned him down." You say.
"But you didn't want to, did you?" He asks. His tone failed to hide the truth. That wasn't a question, that was a request for confirmation. Confirmation he doesn't need.
"You don't understand." You begin.
"I understand enough." He says. He raises his hand and you are forced out of the door. The door shuts in front of you. You can't even bare to talk to him anymore.
He knows Ricochet has convinced you. He's been trying to aid you and he does genuinely love you. In his eyes, you're worth more than your weight in gold. Damian knows this and he knows that for the first time since he fell in love with you, another man is stealing your attention, your affection, your time, and your love. He won't take this lying down.
You try to clear your mind of the situation as your match with Mandy approaches.
You perform almost the entirety of your entrance on autopilot. Your mind is saturated with thoughts. How do you make things right? Why do you have feelings for Ricochet, why now?
The thoughts are quite literally knocked from your head as you're hit with a hell of a superkick. Everything is a blur as the referee taps your face to center your attention. You hear a bell and Mandy's theme plays.
"AND STILL...." The announcement begins.
You're carted to the back as your mind finally clears. It doesn't clear fast enough to dodge a diagnosis, you have a concussion.
"What happened?" You finally manage to ask. "Ya got knocked upside ya head. Ya got a concussion." Pete says. "London, we'll release you to him since Rhea isn't here." The doctor says.
Usually, when someone gets a concussion they can't drive for a few hours after. You'd have been released to Damian had the news not already spread. Because of this, they've chosen the closest person to you in the building.
Pete walks with you and waits outside your dressing room as you shower and prepare to go home. While your mind is clear, your heart isn't. You complete your shower and begin getting dressed when you see a fight erupt on the TV. Damian has found Ricochet and is beating him with his own crutch. You rush from the dressing room to the ring with Pete on your heels. You run out so quickly your theme doesn't even have time to play. You run to the ring and are only given a brief second to choose. Damian has wedged Ricochet's injured leg in one crutch and is about to hit it with the other. The damage will more than likely break his leg.
How do you stop this mayhem?
You shield Ricochet with your own body. Damian halts mere centimeters from you. Even at the height of his rage, he can't hit you. He can't bear the thought of harming his princess.
Like a lion taking pity on a lonesome gazelle, he backs away. Dropping the crutch on his way out of the ring. Your theme plays officially closing the show. You tend to Ricochet as he whimpers in pain. His leg covered in fresh bruises. Damian targeted it entirely only dealing collateral damage to the rest of Ricochet's body. The paramedics arrive not a minute too soon and you walk along the side of the cart as it's wheeled to an awaiting ambulance in the back. Ricochet holds your hand. The pitiful look in his eyes ensures you don't reject the gesture.
The war has begun.
