You wake up at the break of dawn at your hotel. It's not long before you're dressed and seated in Bayley's car. She'd texted you to come down and you obliged. Today's ally is yesterday's enemy afterall.
"I have an idea, but it's completely random." She announces maneuvering into the bustling traffic outside the hotel.
"Anything is better than nothing." You reply.
"I'm glad you say that. Because my idea is that we should face The Undertaker." She says.
"I take back what I said. Anything is better than that." You reiterate.
"Come on, think about it. He's the only other person that knows who we really are and where we came from. He has to have access to the barrier between our worlds." She says.
"What if he doesn't, and on top of that, what if he is so strong and stupid smart he overpowers us both?" You ask.
"Okay, if you're so against my idea what's yours?" She inquires.
"I don't have an idea but anything is better than literally going to the person we're running from." You reply.
She sighs and continues driving, "Well I have to go to the gym because unlike you I actually work in this world." She says.
"I work! I just haven't been to work." You reply.
"And that my dear is how you end up having no work to go to." She says pulling up to the NXT Building. A thought graces your mind, a perfect sounding one at that.
"Let me go in too." You say.
"What, no! You were escorted out less than 48 hours ago. You're the crazy lady on campus ~ that I wouldn't get caught dead with!" She reminds.
"I'll disguise myself and sneak in. I want to at least see Damian." You reply.
Bayley rolls her eyes and fishes a hoodie from the backseat, "If you get caught I didn't bring you, I didn't come in with you, you haven't seen me, and you suck." She says.
"Why the last one?" You ask.
"I just wanted to remind you." She answers getting out.
You grumble and rush behind her. She goes in letting the door slam on you.
Nevertheless, you make it inside and into the barren halls of the building. No one is there as it's early and many days before a show. You use the perfect opportunity to sneak to Damian's room slash apartment. You get inside with ease as his door is usually unlocked. No one dares enter without his permission.
Inside you're met with the ever familiar darkness. Though it's not entirely silent. You hear a repetitive sound coming from his room. A wave of fury washes over you in an instant. You burst the door open finding Damian seated in a black rocking chair. His eyes meet yours seconds after entry.
"Welcome." He smiles.
"Hi." You smile nervously. The butterflies return as if they never left. This is him, the man you so desperately needed to see. Sitting, smiling, right before your eyes.
"Who are you!?" You hear.
You see Mandy Rose standing in the bathroom doorway in a robe. "She was just visiting baby," Damian replies.
Your eyes dart between the two of them. You're the uninvited guest in your own (ex)boyfriend's bedroom. You summon your words carefully. Not without a gulp and a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I got lost." You apologize.
"Don't let it happen again, weirdo." Mandy hisses. She kneels to kiss Damian and seats herself on his lap, "Shoo." She shoos with a wave of her hand.
You turn and walk away. Speed walking, no, practically running, from the scene. You manage to exit his apartment door before you burst into tears. You've been hurt many times, but this feeling is foreign.
You bury your face in your knees, not even baring to walk further. You hear many footsteps pass, but one pair stops. "London, what happened?" Ricochet asks urgently. He quickly seats himself beside you and holds your hand.
"I just feel really really overwhelmed." You say wiping your eyes. How do you tell your fiancee you're crying because you found out your ex is dating someone else?
"We should leave. I know it's hard for you here." He suggests. You nod and he helps you up. As he walks you to the car you realize you can't go home. Not yet at least. He realizes your sudden hesitation, "What's wrong?" He asks.
"I can't go home. Ricochet there's something I haven't told you.." You begin.
~ suddenlyit's as if the world is paused. Everyone and everything around you stops. ~
"Ricochet?" You ask. He doesn't move, because he's frozen too.
In the distance you see the lights in the hall bursting and a haunting figure in all-black levitating toward you.
Every light he passes gives way to darkness. He's moving beyond humanly possible speeds.
You break away from Ricochet and rush in the opposite direction. You manage to turn into a side doorway leading toward the gym. Bayley is the only person that can help you now.
