" DO YOU HEAR ME L/N?! YOU ARE FIRED! F-I-R... E-D! GET OUT, NOW!"

The doors slammed shut, making a sound that could rival thunder, as Mr. Grinsley walked away from the door. People from the inside stared in shock at how the old man reacted to the matter.

From the inside, Johnny held a shit-eating grin on his face while he stared at Y/n. Her chest was moving quickly and her breathing was staggering.

She was fired.

She needed that job.

What was she going to do?

It was all Johnny's fault. He started the fight and didn't end it. He was to blame. But his dad failed to give him consequences.

'Blame everyone else for your family's problems' Y/n thought, bitterly. Her arms wrapped around herself as she marched to her car. It was cold and the clouds were becoming dark. She could hear the thunder in the distance nearing the town.

While unlocking her car, Y/n took one last glance at the Grinning Cat. The small restaurant had been doing badly before she worked there.
Tiny space, bad service, shitty owner, weird location, just a bunch of reasons people had stayed away.

Once she was hired by Mr. Grinsley's ex-wife, things started to change.

Moods were brightened, food was decent, and the place seemed to buzz with excitement.

But even with all the good feedback, Mr. Grinsley hated Y/n. He despised anything that she did correctly and hoped something would make her out of line.

He didn't have a keen reason why he hated her. He only hated the fact that his ex-wife made his business better before they divorced.

And since Johnny was taken in by his dad, he also joined in on the shared hatred for his co-worker.

Y/n could recall how it all started and the sudden ending.

It was 6:30 pm, and the day was slow. Since it was Saturday, most people would show up around seven to eight for dinner time.

Y/n was wiping down a nearby table located at the right corner of the layout. She had nothing else to do but clean and it was all going smoothly.

... until the yelling started.

"I asked for the fried chicken, not the grilled! It's a completely different thing!" The customer yelled out. His face was glowing red as he glared at Johnny, who is one of the cooks back in the kitchen.

"Oh I'm sorry sir, I just thought you didn't need it by your looks," Johnny replied, making both workers and nearby customers gasp at his rude comment.

The customer, known as a regular named Darnel, leaped to the side door and into the kitchen. He attempted to corner Johnny, only for the smaller man to run out into the dining area.

Johnny looked scared half to death. He wasn't strong at all. He was thin with mid hair that curled at the ends. Y/n wouldn't admit it, but he would've been a little cute if it wasn't for his obnoxious attitude.

Johnny had passed Y/n quickly, knocking her down in the process. He paid no mind to her fall as he tried to avoid Darnel and his anger.

"Come back here you punk! Man up, and face me like the little bitch you are!" In the heat of the moment, Darnel picked up a chair and threw it in Johnny's direction.

Johnny let out a squeal and jumped out of the way. The wooden chair cracked and broke from the impact of the brick wall.
Darnel looked around for Johnny, seething with rage until he felt his leg being kicked from behind making him fall to the floor.
