Esther had found Rebekah and since Elijah wasn't in the right headspace after their mothers torture to torture their brothers,Klaus had sent him to meet Rebekah to protect Hope and Evelyn.
It's nearly dark and Elijah is sitting in a booth with Evelyn next to him. "How are you feeling?" Elijah asks his daughter as he handed her toy bunny over to her. Evelyn beamed at her father and began playing with the toy bunny.
A few minutes later,Rebekah finally walked into the restaurant with Hope in her baby carrier. Elijah immediately stands when he sees her as she smiles at him. When she makes it over to the booth she sets Hope's carrier on the table,Elijah smiling widely as he gazed down at his niece. Rebekah's smile widening as she notices Evelyn in her carrier. She and Elijah share a brief hug before they focus all their attentions of their nieces,Rebekah picking up Evelyn as Elijah picked up Hope.
"Look at you,so big,so perfect." Elijah says to Hope in complete awe.
"I could say the same thing about Little Evelyn." Rebekah speaks as she keeps her sole focus on Evelyn. Elijah smiling at Rebekah's comment.
"They are both so perfect." Elijah spoke,looking at his sister with a smile.
"Hi,Evelyn.I'm your aunt Bekah." Bekah whispered to Evelyn as the young child beamed up at her.
Rebekah sighs,as she looks at Hope then to Evelyn "I know I have to give her back to Hayley when the time is right. But,she's made me realize how much I want that child of my own...that I know I can't have."
"You could." Elijah says immediately,shocking his sister. "I mean,look at me. Evelyn may not be my blood but she is my child.I never thought I could be a father,but Evelyn has given me that chance." He speaks sincerely,look down at his daughter as Rebekah gets teary-eyed.
"Maybe I could adopt one day." Rebekah says,looking down at the child in her arms. "What happened with you and Esther?" She asks.
"Mother tortured me for days with memories I thought I'd buried long ago." Elijah licks his lips nervously "Then,she made an offer..to make us mortal again." he speaks,Rebekah looking stunned. "You see,sister. Mother believes that by placing us in new bodies,we can reclaim some kind of..purity. We can begin families of our own again. And,I have to confess,Rebekah...this invitation,however cruel in delivery,had a certain..appeal."
Rebekah looks at him sympathetically,and stretches her arms across the table so she can take Elijah's free hand in her own. He continues to gaze down at Hope,not noticing when Rebekah spots a smear of blood on the sleeve of his shirt and becomes concerned. Elijah notices her concern and misreads it.
