6. His Confession

"Excuse me, you're in my seat." Jake and I turn to see my actual tablemate, Maya, standing with her books in her hands.

"Huh, what? This seat? Your seat? No no no, from now on this is my seat and she is my partner. So bye-bye." Maya rolled her eyes and sat in Jake's regular seat.

My eyes were now on Jake. "What was that for?" He just shrugged his shoulders. "Donno, I just felt like sitting here. Plus, I am expecting something from you," he said as he winked at me.

I stare at him before realizing that I haven't given back his umbrella. "Hold on," I said as I turned around to my bag. I pulled out his umbrella and handed it to him. "I forgot to say this but thanks for letting me borrow the umbrella."

"Uh-huh, don't mention it. But-" Jake was about to ask me something, but the teacher had already entered the class and cut him off.

"Alright, class. As most of you know, Student Council and the school staff have finally finalized the junior and senior trip. Even though that this is a school trip, we - as in the teachers and staff- have all collectively decided that we'd like you to be stress-free and have fun on this trip. The most important part, before I forget, is that you'll have to decide on a partner that you'll want to stick with on this trip. With that being said..."

"Anyways, I've been wanting to ask you about this."Jake suddenly said.

"What is it?"

"Why were you crying the other day? Did you break up with someone?"

I looked at him and replied, "I guess you could say something like that."

"Then, who was the guy? Or a girl?"

"Look," I started as I sighed, "Can we like not talk about this?"

"Fine, but on one condition."

"What is it?" At this point, I could see a small smile creeping onto his face.

"You and I," Jake started as he motioned at us, "Have to be partners for this trip."

I stare at him, puzzled. "Why?" I watched as his face lit up. He shyly looked down for a second before looking back up at me, with a small blush on his face and confidence radiating off him.

"Because I, Jake Hong, have a crush on you."
