Chapter 18: Clueless

Josh's POV;

I left y/n's place and made my way home. I was greeted by Rosie like usual, with her tail wagging from excitement before she went to lay back down in the other room. I went back to my room to get changed because I was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday. I took a shower still trying to pull off the tiredness that had been weighing down my eyes since I woke up. Once I got out of the shower I grabbed my phone and texted y/n,

Me: Have fun with Vee my love

Within seconds my phone flashed on and vibrated simultaneously on the counter

Y/n😍: Thank you, I'll text you later❤️

I sent back some hearts and put my phone on the nightstand so that I could get dressed. Once I was somewhat clothed I decided to clean up the house a little bit because Jake and I are not always the best housekeepers. I walked into the living room to see Rosie cuddling her favorite stuffy with her eyes closing slowly, falling back into her deep sleep. I finished picking up the rest of Jake's shit and went back to my room.

Me: I cleaned the apartment for you numbskull, I take payment in food or beer. Thank you🙏🏼

Jacob🎸: you're the numbskull but thanks, I'll pick up dinner tonight.

Y'know, I did not think that that was going to work but thank god because I do not feel like making food tonight, I thought to myself before returning to my room. I took a nap and did some extra organizing before I heard the door finally unlock. I made my way out to the kitchen to see Jake carrying the food he had promised, and to my surprise, Venus was right behind him.

"Oh, hey Vee, I thought that you were having a girl's night with y/n?" I said casually while I dug through the bag holding our food. "no, we haven't made any plans to hang out. Why? Did she say that we were hanging out?" I stood there for a second and then nodded my head, there was a sudden pang in my chest as I realized that she had lied. "Yeah, it's okay though I'm sure something just came up." As I finished my sentence, Jake and Venus shared a sort of sympathetic look. "What?" I said, obviously irritated. Venus shifted where she stood and inched closer to Jake. "What the fuck aren't you guys telling me?" Vee looked at me in shock, I never really got mad but this was starting to infuriate me because they weren't good at hiding whatever it is that they knew. "I'm sorry, but I hate when people lie to me, and you two clearly know something that I don't." Vee took a breath and walked over to me, then she spoke, "We didn't want to get in the middle of anything, and to be honest we still don't. All I'm going to say is that you need to talk to her." She turned with hurt in her eyes but she stopped and turned back around pulling me into a hug, "We are here if you need anything."

I quickly went back to my room, forgetting about the food Jake had just brought. I pulled out my phone and took a deep breath opening up y/n and i's messages.

Me: We need to talk. Call me.

Within seconds y/n responded, sending a wave of anxiety over my body.

Y/n😍: Oh okay, can I call you in like 10 minutes?

Me: Sure

I don't know what she did but the only thing coming to mind is the worst-case scenario, and it's eating me up.
