~Corey's POV~

The entire way to the hospital was silent, nobody dared to say a word

The radio wasn't even on and the only sound that filled our heads was the windshield wipers and the rain hitting the car

Billy drove as I sat upfront with him and Ricky

I look out of the passenger window and let my mind focus on the rain and think about Joey

I thought he was dead

I thought I lost him and all I had to remember him by was this bracelet

I'm so stuck in thought that I don't even realize we're at the hospital until Ricky nudges my shoulder and breaks me from my trance

"Corey, we're here"

I turn to look at him as I nod and get out of the car as I run through the rain to get inside

Once inside we have to practically beg the nurse at the front desk to let us go see Joey but was easily persuaded after hearing the situation

We find out his room number and as we get inside we're met with a woman who I assume is his mother

"Excuse us ma'am"

I say as she looks up from Joey and gives us a friendly smile

I go to say something else before Joey's mother interrupts and walks towards us

"I already know, Dean Parker stopped and talked to me a few minutes ago. You boys are clear to see him"

She says as she leaves the room leaving the rest of us to surround Joey as he lays on his hospital bed

I grab and hold his hand as I look down at him, hearing his heart monitor beep

"Joey, we did it. We got away"

I say as I lean down to kiss his hand and lay against him

~Joey's POV~

I watch as all my friends surround me but all I can focus on is Corey and his voice as he squeezes my hand and lays on my arm

He's safe, everyone is safe and for most part don't look too injured

"Joey, please wake up. I love you so much, I promise I'm not mad at you for doing what you did"

Corey says as he looks at me, tears in his eyes as he looks at me in this condition

I walk over to my own body and stare down at myself

"Come on wake up, it's time for you to wake up to give Corey a kiss"

I say as if I was talking to someone else while Corey and the rest of my friends sit around me

~Corey's POV~

We sit with Joey all day, not wanting to leave him

At one point we all got check by the police and hospital staff but other than that we stayed put

The guy's family all came too see them but of course my mom was nowhere to be seen

Big surprise there

I smile as all my friends rejoice with their families and cry together, I expected them to leave with them but as Ricky put it

"We never leave one of our own"

Which basically meant if you're staying with Joey than so are we, hell even Yogurt and Ted stayed which made me smile

The day went on and eventually everyone is asleep on a cot in the room beside me who decides to walk around the hospital to stretch my legs

On my walk I see Joey's mother who has been sitting in the waiting room the entire time we were in there

I walk over to her and sit down next to her smiling as she reads a magazine

"You could've stayed in the room you know"

I say as I look over at her as she smiles and looks over at me

"Yea but I think I needed to step away for a bit, I haven't slept since everything happened and frankly I needed the distraction"

She says as she smiles and rubs on my shoulder as I nod in agreement

"I hope you know my son really likes you"

She says which catches me off guard as I turn to look away from her

"About a month ago he talked to me on the phone and kept telling me about this beautiful blonde boy who made his heart flutter"

She says as I look down at the palm of my hands and smiles

"He really said that?"

I ask as she grips my shoulder and nods

"Yes he did. Now it's time I give you some motherly advice"

She says as she turns in her chair, smiling at me and rubbing my arm

"Joey's been through a lot, it's not easy being the only son of a mob boss. He's built up a wall to keep himself strong but he's got a big heart and he loves unconditionally so all I ask is that you never take that for granted and you love him as much as he does you"

She says as I nod and smile before she pulls me in to hug her

"Thank you Miss Trotta"

I say as she smiles and she rubs my back as I get up and walk away from her

My hands sorta fidgeting with one another as I walk back into Joey's room, sitting on the chair next to his bed and smiling at him as I grab his hand

"I don't know if you can hear me but I just wanna tell you how happy I am that you're still alive. When you got shot I thought I lost you before our relationship even started. I was scared, I finally found someone who loved me unconditionally just as my father used too and I thought I lost him completely"

I say to Joey as I cry and hold his hand tightly, hoping he heard me but not thinking too much into

After a couple minutes I feel a tight squeeze on my hand before looking up seeing Joey shift a bit before slowly opening his eyes as I stand up and run out of the room

"Nurse! Miss Trotta! He's awake! He's awake!"

I scream out with excitement before running back in the room and going back to grab Joey's hand

"I'm here Joey, I'm here"

I say as tears fill my eyes and slowly trickle down my cheeks as I smile and grip his hand back while he smiles with his eyes
