𝐈 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐃𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 to the nearest department store without juliet,she refused to get in the car with me claiming i was "probably not a safe driver" then got on her motorbike and decided to drive on her own just to be difficult.she had gotten to the department store before me considering how much faster her motorbike is than my car

she grabbed one that had relatively easy instructions and looked quite nice along with the other stuff we would need.we went to the counter and she handed over the money.

we pulled into the garage and when i got out of the car she looked at me and a sympathetic look spread on her face "...you look exhausted,go to bed.i'll take care of it" she said,i shook my head "mason go to bed" she insisted "no" "yes" she looked at me in a way that made me realise i wouldn't be able to argue my way out of it.i walked hazily through to my room and laid down

i woke up to the sound of a knock on my door then in creaked open slightly,it was her "um-i'm done" she said,my eyes moved to the clock and i realised it had been 3 hours"can you stay here please?" i asked before i could think "what?" "i just don't want to be alone okay?" i said annoyed "are you sure?" "yes" i grumbled "...okay" she walked over,i pulled the duvet back and she laid down,she stayed far away from me again "this doesn't mean i forgive you"
i re-enforce "i know"

i woke up to mom opening the door,she looked at me then juliet who was once again pressed against me with my arm wrapped around her waist.i pulled away which woke her up "did you two tidy up?" mom asked with a smile"um yeah" i answered and sat up "thank you" she smiled,she came over and hugged me,she didn't hug juliet,she doesn't like hugs anymore.she just smiled at her and juliet smiled back hazily.i got up and went outside,i started getting prepared for surfing today,juliet was once again invited to stay for breakfast today but she offered to cook it instead and i wasn't as annoyed about it this time.

i could smell pancakes coming from the kitchen "mason,could you come in here for a second,please?" cynthia called,i walked in as juliet flipped a pancake,she turned to mom with a massive smile which mom reciprocated,i almost smiled too-almost. tracy and evie were playing around with spoons and bleach "this family needs some healing" cynthia stated

"who bought you that wetsuit?" tracy asked me as i passed her

"fuck you" i replied,juliet nudged me and gave me a look which meant i shouldn't have done that as i leaned on the counter next to her

"evie,your mothers phone has been disconnected" evie rolls her head to the side"she not my mom,she's my cousin,my moms a crackwhore"

"okay everybody just take a deep breath,evie,honey,do you have a friend that you could go and stay with for a few days? i think this family needs some alone time" cynthia suggested

"cynthia,i'm the one that's here everyday trying to make the situation better" evie replied

"hardly" juliet mumbled "what was that?" evie turned to her,sending her a look i couldn't quite grasp "i said hardly" juliet responded sternly,through gritted teeth "you're just manipulating tracy and ruining her" she glares at evie with an anger i've never seen before "no she's not" tracy defends "yes,tracy she is"

"i think she would know if she was being manipulated,she's a big girl" evie speaks,smirking "she's thirteen!" juliet half yells "she can handle herself" evie's smirk grows into a sinister smile and juliet's fists clench and she turns quickly and i grab her,holding her back "she's a child! how fucking dare you evie! she's just a baby!" juliet yells,trying desperately to get out of my grip

"i'm not a baby!" tracy yells and mom pulls her back,hugging her "it's not my fault you always want to protect everyone! i'm not the danger! you are! did you forget what you did? and you're gonna let it happen again!" evie yells and juliet stops struggling and her hands stop tugging at my arms "look at what you're doing" evie looks down at my arms around juliet and juliet slowly does the same

she pulls away from me and weaves her way out of the house as quickly as she can,i follow behind her "where are you going?" i call to her "juliet?" i call.mom comes up behind me "julie!" she calls

she doesn't answer,she storms away and over the fence i watch as her door opens and closes,and i hear it slam.me and mom glance at each other and then turn back and walk into the kitchen "what was that?" mom asks evie,who shrugs

"what did she do?" i ask "she cheated on you,duh" evie rolls her eyes "but that's not going to happen again" i remind her "she knows we aren't going to be-like that-ever again"

"maybe she's hoping you will" evie shrugs "well it's not going to happen,i'll personally kill her if it does" tracy says,looking at me as if she doesn't trust me to stay away from juliet "why are you looking at me like that? i want her back as much as you do" i remind her and she nods hesitantly "i can't believe she called me a baby"

"she didn't mean it in a bad way tracy,you know that.she's worried about you" mom reaches out for tracy but tracy backs out of her way "she's got no right to be worried,and there's no need to worry about me anyway" she tugs her cardigan up over her shoulder and storms off,followed by evie
