Chapter 7: The End...Or Is It?

You awoke to your mom's voice. She was screaming for you and your dad. "Y/n!" your mom shouted as she came close to you. You saw her and tried to move. Black goop swirled around you but your mom reached for your hand and pulled you out of it. Your leg was burning and everything hurt. Your mom looked skinny and frail but she sure could pick you up. She put you on her back and you held on. A few steps further you saw your dad, he was face down. Your mom bent down and shook him "Ethan? Ethan!". Though she tried the black goop ended up taking him. You were trying to pay attention but the infection in your leg was starting to make you sweat and feel sick. Your mom squeezed your arm and asked "y/n? Are you still with me?". "I..I think the infection in my leg is starting to get to me" you replied in a hoarse voice. "I'm going to get you out of here, just hold on baby" she said reassuringly. Your mom made her way up some of the shipwreck and opened a door. The walls were dripping with goop and everything was rusty. "This place might be worse than the Bakers place" you whispered. You felt bad that your mom had to carry you but your leg was so messed up you would just slow her down. "Y/n no matter what happens, I need you to just hold onto me okay?" she asked you. You mumbled a yes and held on a little tighter. When your mom got to the end of the stairs you were now in water. (For the flashbacks only Mia is seeing it, your infection makes you drowsy so you're aren't fully aware of everything) She continued forward, unsure of where she was going. "Y/n? Did you see that?" she asked you. "Mh no, I didn't see anything" you said trying to keep at least one of your eyes open. "What was that?" she whispered to herself. (Gonna change perspectives a little bit here since you're half asleep and stuff, I'm gonna use Mia's name and stuff like that instead for this part) Mia continued up a staircase, unsure of what was going on here. She saw a bunch of goop statued bodies and went past them. She had another flashback when she got in the next room. She saw two people in what looked like hazmat suits talking about a bunch of people being dead. They showed a way to get out and when the flashback ended she went that way. She grabbed you and brought you to the front of her, "come on sweetheart, I need you to wake up for a second please". You rubbed your eyes and stood on your good leg. "I'm okay mom, I can do this" you said. Your mom dropped down and crouched, you followed after her and went on your hands and knees instead. You followed her as best you could. "There's a drop up ahead, I'll catch you okay?" she asked you. The only thing you could manage was mhm. She dropped down and then you went down yourself and she caught you and helped you stand. She bent down for you to get on her back again. You did and held on tight. "Mom?" you asked. "Yeah y/n/n?" she asked back. "I just wanted to say, I love you" you said and rested your head on her shoulder. She squeezed your hand and said "I love you too, let's keep going". Your mom opened a locker and a guy with goop on him popped out and scared you. "Ahhh!" you screamed and almost fell but your mom caught you with her hand. "You're okay" she said, trying to calm you. You felt a cold breeze on you and looked to see that the side of the ship was ripped off in this section. You then heard a creepy girls voice say "are you remembering?". You looked forward and saw who you were sure was the same girl you had been seeing throughout your time at the Bakers. Your mom replied "what? What are you?". She giggled and disappeared. You noticed that the further it went the more goopier it became. "Y/n hold on tight" she said. You did as you were told and she climbed up a ladder. She dropped down into some water and climbed up another ladder. The girls voice returned "you said we could be a family". "What are you talking about?" your mom questioned. "You said!" she stomped and ran off. "Wait! Please!" your mom said, clear desperation in her voice. "I'm tired of waiting" the creepy little girl said. You passed out while your mom found her way forward. Mia walked up some stairs and found a room where the little girl was. There was a staticy tv and she was sitting in a chair. "Watch it" the girl said. "What? Why?" Mia questioned her. "You need to remember -- so we can be a family" she replied. Your mom sat you down on the desk and you rested your head against the wall. Mia put the tape in and watched it. She now remember what happened. Eveline was a test subject and she was transporting her. It all went wrong and that's how she ended up at the Bakers. The tape ended and Mia turned to Eveline. "Now do you remember?" Eveline asks. "Yes, Eveline, I remember" Mia responds. "Can we be a family like before?" Eveline asks. "I have a family, y/n is my kid, you can't replace him" Mia says and guards your sleeping body. "I won't replace him, I'll just get rid of him and then I'll be the better kid" she says and acts all innocent. Mia grits her teeth and says "we can't be a family. We were never a family. We will never be a family". "Then I don't need you anymore" Evie says and jumpscares Mia, then disappears. Your mom picks you up and says "y/n, I'm gonna find a place for you to stay. You'll be safer there". You didn't protest and just passed back out. A little while later your mom was shaking you awake. "I'm going now okay? I'll come get you once I find where your dad is" she says. You sit up on the bed you're on and hug her tight. "Please come back" you whisper and a tear falls down on your cheek. She kisses your forehead and says "I'll always come back to you". Sleep soon overcomes you and you wake up 30 minutes later to your mom picking you up and putting you on her back. "I found dad, we're going to get out of here y/n/n" she says. You make your way through a bunch of goop guys and you feel a little rested enough to shoot them. You finally get to where your dad is. Eveline is there and your mom and her start talking. You get down off of your mom's back and hop on your good leg. "Alright listen here bitch, I'm so tired of your bullshit. Did you ever think the reason no one wants to be around you is because all you do is cause harm and pain to others? You're a cold hearted little bitch who is alone and will forever be alone and soon enough, you'll cease to exist" you say, fed up of her shit. Eveline growls and then disappears. "I would usually say something about you swearing but she deserved it" your mom says. You shrug and then go to your dad to help him out of his goop cocoon. Your mom gets more upset. Your dad takes a big gasp of breath and falls into your mom's arms. "Mia? Mia? How?" he says. She picks you up and places you in your dad's arms. You start to freak out, you reach out to her. She grabs your hand and then pushes you and your dad out of the room. "There's no time. You have to get out of here and find her. Here, take this" she says and hands your dad something. She pushes your dad far back and slams the door. "Wait -- wait -- what are you doing? What are you doing?" your dad asks. You feel tears fall out of your eyes. "Saving your life. You need to go. I won't be able to resist for much longer" she says as she starts to turn back into the evil part of her. "Mom please" you choke out. She puts her hand on the glass and you do the same, you notice her bracelet, your matching bracelets. She looks to your dad and says "now, go kill that little bitch". "No -- no. Mia --no!" your dad screams as the glass covers up in goop. Your dad hugs you and then places you on his back. "Are you ready for this?" he asks you. "More than ready" you say as you wipe your tears. The next couple of doors lead you outside. You hold onto your dad as he brings you through the water with dead fish floating in it. You make it to a ladder and he climbs up it. There's a radio and your dad stands there to listen to what's going on. "So somebody is going to find us?" you ask him. "Yeah but we have to finish off Eveline first" he says and continues on. You make your way to an elevator that you assume goes down to the salt mines. "It kind of feels like Star Wars in here" you say. Your dad laughs and continues on. He hands you his regular handgun for you to upgrade to. You make your way through and handle the enemies along the way, you end up at a room. Your dad reads some files and then finds something. "This will destroy Evie" he says and you smile. You see Eveline when you go into a room that has a big pool of water. It takes you a while and a lot of bullets but you finally make it through the place and up a ladder. You notice the tight squeeze up ahead and get off of your dad's back. You squeeze through after him and go along on foot. Your dad pushes down the boards and you instantly recognize where you are. You're at the very beginning. When you first found your mom. You could feel how close you were to ending this horrible night. You notice the grandma's wheel chair sitting there but no grandma. "You sure you can make it up the stairs?" your dad asks you. "I'm Rambo" you say with a determined look on your face. Your dad smiles and nods his head. You make your way back through the house, looking for Eveline. When you make it to the first hallway of the house she pops up. "You're gonna be one of us. Then maybe you'll play nicely" she says. Your dad shows her the syringe filled with the E-necrotoxin and says "I'm not playing". "No! Get that away from me!" she screams and then disappears. You go up the stairs, your dad following behind you. You see her floating in the middle of the room. She tries to blast you both away but you keep your hands up. Your dad keeps going until he finally plunges the syringe into her neck. Eveline screams and then she turns into the grandma. Oh you freakin knew it! "You?" your dad asks and backs away. Eveline looks up and she has goop for tears. "Why does everyone hate me?" she asks. "Oh I'm pretty sure I already answered that question for you" you say, amusingly. What's not amusing is what she turns into. She turns into a big black goop face. "Oh shit" you say and get your gun ready. Both you and your dad load bullets into her until the room breaks and your dad goes flying. She pins you through your bad leg and you scream in agony. The pain is so bad you think you're going to pass out. Your dad starts shooting at her ugly face and you're hanging there upside down, almost unconscious. You're about to give up when you think of your mom. You think of everything you've been through this entire night. You're Rambo, giving up isn't an option. You need to do this for your mom and your dad, for the Bakers and everyone else Eveline hurt. You need to get up and do it for yourself. You look down and yell down at your dad to give you the gun the person from the helicopter just dropped. He looks at it and then throws it up to you. You catch it and shoot Eveline in the face 4 times until she finally falls and let's go of you. She turns to stone and crumbles. You start falling but your dad runs to break your momentum. It was a hard landing but he kept you alive. He hugged you tight and said "I'm so proud of you". You hugged him back. After that the guys in the helicopter came down. One of the guys walked towards you and took his helmet off. "I'm Redfield. I'm glad we found you" he said. "The fuck took you guys so long?" your dad asked. Once the adrenaline wore off you found yourself in immense pain on a stretcher in the helicopter. You saw your mom and that was enough for you to feel okay to let yourself rest. It was a hell of a night but you got what you went there for, your mom back and now you wouldn't let her go again. It was finally over and you could breathe again...or was it?
