next morning
rose whined, "it's super hard to say goodbye." m/n was waiting and you sniff, wiping your tears. "me too, goodbye rose, hopefully next summer i can see you again, hm? and when school comes back."
the two of you hugged, and left, getting into your mother's car. "does she mean a lot to you? danny asked. you nodded. "she's my best friend, danny. do you even want to see aunt janie?" "of course, but i also will miss my friends, danny said. "mom, why didn't you make a decision with us?"
"because i know you would have said no, m/n chuckled. "this will be good for you, a new change, something new for the summer. plus, hackensack is where your father grew up, and me as well."
you and your brother were getting on a plane yourselves and this was not really something you had done before.
your mother was a very cautious woman, but today she was too busy and couldn't take time off work.
"y/n, you excited? danny asked you. "not really, you reply. "i'm gonna miss rose." m/n sighed."i promise you, this summer will be super fun." you nod, trying to tell yourself that. "how long is it to get to the airport?"
"about an hour or so, don't worry y/n, we'll get there on-time."
you wouldn't mind missing your flight if it meant going back and seeing rose, she was always there for you when your mother and you got into a fight or danny was arguing with you. but you did plan to write to her any chance you could.
danny didn't seem to happy either, but you both had no choice. maybe this would be a fun summer, you didn't know where aunt janie lived in hackensack though, so where would you stay? a hotel?
"look, i know the both of you aren't happy with this, m/n said. "but, she still is family. i think it would be nice, right?" "i guess so, danny replies, being the "mature" 16-year old that he was. you shrugged. "danny's right."
he smiled, you bit your lower lip anxiously as you stared at the window, was this going to be fun? you wanted it to be, you just had to wait and see. you yawned, this was getting boring, luckily, you packed books to read.
your favorite book to read happened to be Peter Pan, but you would never tell that to anyone. you opened a book and began reading, you soon got lost in the world of reading that your mother had to repeat your name a few times.
"what mom?"
"we're at the airport."
this was very expensive, your mother clearly didn't want to drive all the way to hackensack, and you didn't mind. you smiled as you looked round in the airport. your mother made a good amount of money each year so you weren't surprises she could afford it.
"now, i'm a little nervous letting you two fly on your own, m/n said. "mom, i promise, aunt janie's going to be there when we fly down, plus, we're teenagers, you explain."i'm not a kid anymore."
"yeah mom, danny said. m/n sighed."okay... but be responsible, got it? and go easy on your aunt, love you both." she kissed your forehead and your brother's. you gulped as you saw the airplanes from the windows.
"come on y/n! danny said, going to pay for tickets, and soon, you two boarded your flight. you sat beside your brother and took big breaths. "Y/N, please don't have a panic attack now, danny pleaded."i promise everything's going to be okay."
you gave him an assuring smile. "i know, just kind of anxious. i know i'm not going to have a panic attack." you stared at the window, knowing that everything was going to be ok, you just were making it not okay.

danny shook you awake as you groaned. "we're here y/n, danny whispered. you smiled. "oh great. i was going to keep on sleeping." you did get bored because being on a plane wasn't as fun as you thought.
"so, she's going to be right there meeting us? you asked. danny nodded."that's the plan." you exited the plane and immediately recognized our aunt. "y/n! danny! janie exclaimed." is that you?"
"yeah! you smile, hugging her and then danny hugged her. "hey janie, how have you been? danny asked. "excellent! she said. "do you have everything?" you nodded. "we do, i'm actually pretty excited."
"me too, danny smiled. now, you actually were. your mother had been right. maybe a new change was nice for you. you had spent most of your summers with rose for years. as she drove, she said,"i should remind you both that i own and live at a group home."
"what? you ask. "mhm, i've owned it for a long time, janie said. "i'm sure you won't mind that, right?" "we don't, right y/n? danny asked. "i don't mind, you pipe in, danny sighing of relief. janie smiled. "good. how's jack been?"
"really good, he finished kindergarten."
"wow."
"yup."
you stared at the window, seeing a huge place that must've been the group home. what could go wrong? the car pulled up to the group home. "now, we do have rooms left for the two of you to occupy, janie told you and your brother.
"okay, danny said, a smile on his face. "so, i can show you two around, she smiled. you entered the house. you took in a big breath. "come on, let's go upstairs, everyone is eating in the breakfast hall right now, she smiled.
"here is your room, y/n."
you placed your stuff down in an pretty, f/c room, and you smiled. "thanks aunt janie." she nodded, then showed danny his room, which was next to yours. you plopped yourself on the bed and sighed.
maybe this wouldn't be too bad, hopefully there was some boys your age in this home, since it was a group home for boys.
but you had no idea what the future had in store for you..
