the juicy part will begin soon, but this story IS a slowburn, which is why it is taking a while. also, idk when i will update next after this chapter btw.
SO, If i do not update in a while just know it was on purpose, not to abandon you guys, just bc i have to.
For now, enjoy this chapter;)
"danny, why do you always assume my guy friend is someone i've got a crush on? you asked. he smiled."y/n, i trust you, not the guys that are in love with you." you rolled your eyes jokingly. "what are their intentions, danny?"
"i don't know, take advantage of you? danny guessed. "i just want to protect you, since i failed doing so for dad." "i promise, you made dad proud, you smiled, hugging your older brother. he smiled, too.
moments like these you cherished, a lot.
"you think so? he asks you, you knew how insecure your brother was, and you were just as insecure. "yes, you respond. "i'm being completely honest. he knows he has a excellent son, daniel."
he laughed, noticing you said his full name as a joke, you only meant well, of course. the two of you entered back in, you gotten even closer to your brother than before. "how was it? janie asked.
you grinned. "really nice, right danny?" "i agree with y/n, danny responds, casually. "it was really fun bonding with my little sister." "oh i'm so glad to hear that, janie says, cheerfully. "you two were quite chaotic when you were younger."
you laughed. "so i've been told, aunt janie." she laughed as well, before you went upstairs once again. suddenly, you bumped into someone, noticing that familiar face. "hey, charles responded, half-laughing almost.
"hi, surprised i bumped into you, i see you everywhere, you joked. "me too, still thought you were gone though, he shrugged. "it's nice you're back y/n." you smiled and waved, entering the bedroom you resided in, temporarily.
you sighed, plopping on your bed, thinking of a bunch of things, especially your dad for some reason. he always told you to be strong, and brave. you let him down since you were neither of those things.
you hated yourself, a lot. it was no secret, but you kept it hidden. who knows what would happen if you told your mother? she might send you to a psychologist, or even worse, a therapist.
why?
you decided to read, it was your comfort hobby after all, why not? some might say you were a bookworm, but you didn't really give a fuck. "what book is that? charles asks, standing in your doorway.
"some scary novel, you responded. "what can i say? i'm a horror geek." charles chuckled. "you've got a good sense of humor y/n. i like horror, too." fuck, he really is perfect, you thought, assuring not to fall for him.
he probably didn't even see you that way, so why bother? you sighed. you were kind of down now, having that thought in your mind. "you okay? he asks. you smile. "mhm, i'm fine." "oh, okay, charles said sweetly.
how come he was so kind to you?
you weren't special by any means(you guys are special and ily, just your thoughts basically), so why did he treat you this way? was it your depressive mind thinking that way? probably. but still, it was nice to see him so kind.
"y/n, i think you're a very special girl, he blurts, as if reading your mind. "you do? you asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "of course, he responds. "you're actually pretty nice to me. a lot of people in hackensack consider me a freak."
your eyes widened. "really?" he nodded his head sadly, then you did something unexpected. you hugged him, you just felt so bad for him you wanted to give him comfort. surprisingly, he hugged back.
"thanks, for everything."
"of course, i'm your friend, charles."
a friend, he thought, a warm smile on his face. you trusted him a lot, and even though you knew it might be a bad idea, you didn't care. he never gave you a reason not to trust him, after all. he was a good person.
"hm, i'm going to deliver this letter for rose, you randomly said. "okay, i'll go with you, charles offered. you gave him a sweet smile. "okay, i need company anyways." you did, you didn't want to go alone for some reason.
not an entire lie.
"oh really? he teased. you playfully hit his shoulder. "shut up, i do! i swear." "i believe you, he responds. "c'mon, n/n." you winked."alright then, chucky." "how did you come up with that? he asks.
"a bit more fun than charles, don't you think?"
"i guess so, kind of does fit me."
the two of you were now walking to the mailbox, you hoped rose would respond this time. she could be unexpectedly busy, but still, she would have told you. rose was your best friend, who told you everything.
you sighed."i think it's weird, rose hasn't responded to me in a while, i think she abandoned me." "n/n, don't think that way, chucky said, placing his hand on your shoulder assuringly. "maybe she had to do things and forgot to tell you."
"maybe."
you put the letter in, and started to walk back. "we've always been so close, what has changed now? you ask, biting your lower lip. "long-distance, chucky suggested. "i guess, you reply. "but that never stopped us before."
"oh, then i'm not sure."
"oh."
rose couldn't have abandoned you, she promised she would speak to you. plus, you'd be coming back in august, a month before school would begin again. but maybe charles was right.
just trust his word.
you entered the home, and danny sat there. "where were you? he asked, overprotective brother mode going off. you chuckled. "danny, we just delivered my letter to rose, you can stop panicking now."
"is he always like that?"
"just the boys i talk to."
he smiled, shaking danny's hand. "i promise, me and Y/n are just friends." danny nodded, already beginning to feel comfortable around him.
how was he able to charm anyone? even your own brother?
