Today's bucket list task is to go surfing because neither of us has gone. Everybody's here at the beach except for one person, Leo. Growing up Leo missed a lot of fun events due to his parents' health problems. They both have cancer; a severe kind, so he has to sacrifice some things to care for them which is understandable. I decide to call Leo to see what was wrong.
"Hey, Leo what's up?" I ask when the call went through.
"I have good and bad news," he says.
"Spill," I reply.
"As you know, my parents are sick but there's a doctor in the country over who has the cure to my parents' cancer, but the price is hefty," he said sadly.
"How much?" I ask.
"50,000 sumos," he says with a heavy heart.
"Wow," I gasp!
"How are we going to get that?" I ask.
"No clue," he replies.
"Okay, we're coming over," I say firmly.
"You don't have to," he says.
"What are friends for?" I smile.
As I hang up I inform the others of the situation with Leo and we all head back to his place. When we get to his place Leo's making calls to see if he can get a loan of some sort, but his efforts are in vain.
"Oh, hey guys, I didn't see you there," he says when he notices us.
"Are you okay?" asks Sasha.
"I'm fine, just tired," replies Leo.
Fatima proceeded to speak about how we need to come up with a plan to get the money. We sit in the family area for a few hours and then Josh has a crazy idea.
"My boss!" Josh yells.
"Huh?" we all say in unison.
"Remember I was telling you about him Sasha, how he always hosts all these big charity events gets a lot of cash then keeps the money all to himself?" Josh says.
"Ah yes, and you were annoyed because he never got in trouble for it but relieved because if he got in trouble he would die," says Sasha recalling the conversation.
"Okay, but what's the significance of that," asks Leo.
Josh went on to explain how he keeps all the money in a safe in the janitor's closet at the skating rink.
"Do you know what will happen if we get caught!" yells Leo.
"We won't; that's the whole point; my boss told me that he temporarily took down the surveillance cameras because he's getting new ones, but we can still get masks and stuff just in case; he'll never know," Josh explains.
"I'm in!" says Fatima instantly.
"I guess I'll do it for Leo," Sasha says with her head down.
"I mean it's for my parents; I'll do anything at this point," says Leo.
"How about you Rosalind?" asks Josh.
"Are you a billion percent sure we won't get caught?" I ask.
"Yes, I swear; it will be quick," says Josh.
The plan was in motion. Josh would open the safe while Sasha and Fatima collected the cash. Meanwhile, Leo would be on the lookout while I drove the getaway car. If I could go back and do one thing it would be to erase this moment, this very conversation forever.
