Chapter 44

"Good, all of you are here today," Donald said at the Union assembly. "Nothing big. We just have to switch to some new companies. This shouldn't take long. Well, that's if there's no one shitting like last time. With regards to changing companies, Kingsley will be handing out the lists so there's no need to discuss it further. What matters is that Eunjang High School is off limits," 

"Anyone who disobeys this without a valid reason will be severely punished," Donald kicked Jimmy in the chest, knocking him out of his seat. He then slammed his foot down onto Jimmy's head. "Anyone who targets my little sister will be severely punished,"

Forrest trembled in his seat and paled. 'Is this what he's going to do to me when he finds out I'm dating Dawn!?'

"Normally I wouldn't have the Union involved with personal matters of mine," Donald kicked Jimmy aside and didn't knock him down again as the weaker teen got back up. "But drastic times call for drastic measures. My little sister has a boyfriend," He made a face of disgust. 

"Wolf, Jake, Forrest, you three will be following them around. If you see at any point that Dawn's boyfriend is hostile or aggressive towards her, you are to protect her and deal with her boyfriend. If that happens, leave him alive so I also get a chance at revenge. Jimmy Bae, you are to stay the fuck away from my little sister. Instead, I have a whole bunch of other tasks for you to do," 

For someone like Wolf, it was easy to keep a poker face under the guise of a bored expression. For Jake Ji, however, he happily smiled with a chirp of "Sure thing Mr. Na!" Forrest just silently nodded, fearing that his voice would be a mess of stutters if he attempted to speak.

"So," Jake grinned. "What's the plan for the date?"

"It's not a date," Forrest claimed. "She and I are just going to meet with some friends of hers from middle school,"

"Did you already plan your funeral yet," Wolf mocked. "There's no way you'll escape alive since you've already seen how overprotective he is,"

"So Forrest Lee is Dawn's boyfriend?" Kingsley, who was in the parking lot and had overheard their conversation, asked.

"Where the fuck did you come from!?" Jake jumped back in surprise.

"I just came back from retrieving some files for Donald," Kingsley held up the orange envelope in his hand. 

"Please don't tell Donald," Forrest pleaded.

"You do realize that you're going to meet him this weekend for dinner with the family, right?" Kingsley reminded.

"I'm still trying to prepare for that confrontation," Forrest claimed. "I'm trying to find a way to get through the dinner without Donald murdering me,"

"For Donald, Dawn's safety comes first and foremost," Kingsley suddenly grabbed Forrest and twisted his arm behind his back. He held a pocket knife to Forrest's throat. "Continue to treat Dawn kindly and you may just survive,"

"O-Okay,"

Kingsley released Forrest and tucked away his pocket knife. "I won't tell Donald. I want to see the shock on his face when he finds out,"

'At least I can guarantee that I won't be dying until this weekend,' Forrest thought.

"Why are Wolf and Jake here?" Dawn asked when Forrest arrived.

"We wanted to meet your middle school friends too," Jake claimed. Well, it wasn't a lie. He really was interested in meeting his little sister's friends. "Come on sis, I'm a little jealous that you're bringing your boyfriend to meet them but not us, your brothers,"

"My friends live all the way in Gangnam," Dawn explained. "We mostly stay in contact through texts but they're in Yeongdeungpo today. Since you and Wolf are already here, you  two mind as well tag along,"

"This place is pretty high end though for just a friendly meetup," Wolf commented as he finished his cigarette and extinguished it on the sidewalk.

"Juhee went overboard and reserved a private dining room. I told her a normal table reservation was fine, but she insisted,"

The four entered and made their way to the dining room number that Juhee had texted Dawn. "Dawn!" The Na Group heiress ran up to her friend and hugged her.

"Hey Juhee," Dawn greeted. "Two of my brothers tagged along so I hope you don't mind,"

"It's fine," Juhee claimed. "Two of our friends, Hera and Yeojin, also came here with us,"

"It's been a while, Dawn," Taeyong said. 

"Yeah," Dawn nodded. 

"I'm Forrest Lee," Forrest decided to take the initiative and introduce himself. "I'm Dawn's boyfriend,"

"And I'm Jake Ji!" Jake happily added. "The other guy here is Wolf Keum. We're Dawn's brothers,"

"For someone who's dating Dawn," Seungcheon commented. "I'm surprised you're not injured, given how protective Donald is,"

'Saying that makes me even more worried than I already am!' Forrest sweat-dropped.

"Donald hasn't met Forrest yet," 

The rest of the time was spent eating and chatting. Wolf felt a bit out of place since he didn't usually dine with a group. He and Forrest both weren't allowed to order alcohol or smoke around Dawn's friends. Forrest was nervous around Dawn's friends and only participated in conversations when someone directly spoke to him. Jake, who was the most social and least villainous of the three boys, easily blended into the group.

Fortunately, the dinner finished uneventfully.

How did the meetup with Dawn
and her friends go?

Wolf Keum:
It was boring

Forrest Lee:
Nothing happened

Donald Na:
What are they doing right now?

Jake Ji:
Dawn's boyfriend is walking
her home

Jake Ji:
Should we follow them?

Donald Na:
Follow them until they reach
the apartment complex

Donald knew that they thought he was still at his office, but he and Kingsley had gone home earlier than usual. As Dawn, Forrest, Wolf, and Jake neared the apartment, Donald watched them from his window. 

Donald's eyes narrowed when he saw Dawn hug Forrest's arm and lean against him. "Dawn's dating Forrest," His voice was filled with rage.
