their story

Two boys.

Two opposites.

One doesn't care about his physical appearance, but feels bad in his skin. Slightly underweight, he wears only baggy clothes, to hide that from his parents.

The other takes hours per week to take care of himself. He's very conscious of his beauty, and sometimes brags about it. He lives alone, brings a different girl every night.

This is their story.

One day, William (the name of the first boy) was walking outside, as he loved to do. It was raining, and he was listening to melancholic music with his headphones. He bumped into someone (the typical romantic boring love story), but that time, the man in front of him, didn't look at him with amorous eyes. He aggressively spat :
"Can't you see where you're going ?!"
"Sorry, Sir, but you could've looked, too."

A second of silence. The man stayed speechless, before looking at William right in the eyes, and saying :
"I kinda like you, young man."
"Sorry, Sir, I have things to do."
"What's your name ?"
"Williams."
"Nice to meet you, Williams."

The first boy raised an eyebrow, doubtful about these five words.
"My name is Alexander. Call me Alex."

He offered his hand for William to shake it, but he didn't, which surprised Alexander a lot. The first boy walked away from him, leaving him gobsmacked. The second one, too astonished to move, just witnessed him leaving, unable to stop him.

The day after, William was walking again. It took up to most his days. Walking, listening to music, doing nothing, emptying his mind. At the corner of the street, there was this weird man he had met once. Alex or whatever his name was. As soon as he walked past him, he grabbed his arm.
"Please, Sir, leave me alone."
"I told you to call me Alex."
"I don't even care. Please leave me alone, or I'll call the police."
"You wouldn't dare."
"Why not ?"
"Because you like me too much."

It was William's turn to stay speechless.
"I don't- I don't- I don't even know you, why would I like you ?"
"Oh, because I'm fabulous..."
"Shut up", he rolled his eyes.

Alexander was definitely too full of himself for him. William left again.

The next day, he couldn't help passing again near that corner. Behind the brick wall, there was no-one. The first boy sighed, but kept walking.
"Missed me ?"
"Ugh", he groaned, turning round.
"Were you looking for me ?"
"I was walking."
"You don't wanna say it, do you ?"
"Leave me alone, Alexander."

Williams left again.
"Fuck", the second boy spat, desperate.

He was insufferable. Was it that hard to be nice with someone ?

He ran towards the other boy, grabbed his hand.
"Willie, wait !"
"WILLIE ?!" he almost choked.
"Listen, I'm sorry for being such a jerk with you. I would just like to be your friend."
"I'm not friends with people like you."
"Is this supposed to be negative or positive ?"
"Positive for you. Negative for me."
"How is that so ? If you want to tell me, obviously...", he added, seeing Williams lowering his head.

The first boy completely removed his headphones, shoved it in his left pocket. Both started walking, Alexander's hand regularly brushing against Williams's, which made the youngest one shiver several times.
"Nobody likes me. At school, people bully me, because I'm different. They say it's because I act camp, because I'm gay."
"I didn't know that..."
"How could you ? You just literally jumped on me on a street. We are strangers, with very different taste for anything, I guess..."
"I've already told you I'm sorry."
"You have surely everything for you ; friends, girls, a family who loves you, a job..."
"I have no friends, I fuck a different girl every single evening, because they don't like my personality but they like my dick, my father was hitting me when I was a kid, I just do ridiculous jobs just to have some money to buy water."
"I'm- I'm sorry, I didn't think you-... I mean, you look hot, you- you seem like a good friend, or whatever... You just need to be a bit nicer with people, and then-..."
"Enough talking about me."
"I thought you liked it...", Williams mumbled.
"Talk to me about you, it's way more interesting."
"What do you want me to say ?"
"Whatever you want. I think you just need somebody to listen to you. I do."
"I'm just fed up of people being afraid of me and rejecting me because of my damn sexuality. I'm just fed up of being alone. I want somebody to talk to, somebody who would listen to me, without judging me, without thinking I'm a freak."
"People are afraid of you ?!" Alexander was genuinely shocked.
"Oh, yeah... Guys in my class at school have invented the Williamophobia. They apparently suffer from it and need psychological support."
"Everything because-..."
"Because I'm gay, yes."
"How did you- How did you find out you were maybe-... ?"
"Don't be ashamed to say it. I've- I've always known I wasn't normal. Then-... I don't know, it has always been obvious. I've been acting camp since I was like three. When we went to the shop, I was always going to the girls' clothing's department, asking for dresses and skirts, which my mum bought me. Now, I don't know if that was good or not. Maybe it would've been better if they had forced me to dress more manly. No, surely it would've been better. No, I'm talking shit. It would have definitely been better. I tried, I sincerely tried being friends with girls, being in a couple with them, but-... I'm hopeless..."
"I could help you...", Alexander smiled.
"How ?"
"Like this...", he smirked.

He violently slammed Williams against a wall. Whoever owned that house, it didn't matter. He crashed his lips upon his, and wildly kissed him. The first boy gently pushed him away, but ended up accepting the kiss.
"Why- why ?" the youngest stuttered.
"I love you, Willie."
"You're the first person to tell me this in my whole life."
"Not even your parents ?"
"Never."

Both became boyfriends. They even got married some months after, like in the typical romantic boring love story...
