"Medium, black." He mumbled, handing me his card once again. I grinned at him. "Okayyy, anything else?" I asked. He shook his head. I then leaned a bit closer to him. "Annnd a name on the cup?" I asked. He rose his brown gaze from the ground to my eyes. My body got that fuzzy shiver again. He stared at me. "No." He answered.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "An initial?" I asked. He continued to stare at me and he shook his head. I puffed out a breath of annoyance and started making his coffee. I handed it to him and looked at him, passing a warm smile.
He looked at me, then started walking away. Then it was just another day.

"Medium, black." He mumbled, handing me his card. Another day comes to learn more about him. I smiled at him. "Is that all?" I asked sweetly, already cashing him out since I know the answer. He nodded his head in answer to my question, and lo and behold, I was right.
As I was making his coffee, I turned to him. "Snowing a lot out there, huh?" I said. I saw him glance outside, then glance at me. He gave a small nod and adjusted his suit. "Do you like cold weather?" I asked, trying to get something out of him. He looked down at me. For a second, I saw a flare of challenge in his gaze. He stared at me apathetically. "Never you mind." He mumbled. Grabbing his coffee and turning to his chair.
I furrowed my eyebrows and let out a small groan of annoyance.

Natalie walked up to me. "What's up?" She asked. I angrily crossed my arms. "He won't tell me anything about him." I complained. "I know he doesn't want to and I should respect that and blah blah manners blah blah, but god it's just killing me." I continued.
Natalie giggled. "What? Can't read him like you read everyone?" She asked. I looked her straight in the eye. "Exactly! And I hate it!" I complained a bit louder. Natalie smiled at me. "Y/NNN~" She cooed.
I looked at her and rose an eyebrow. "Huh?" I mumbled. "Y/NNN~" She cooed again. "What?" I asked softly.
"Y/N~" She cooed again. "What?" I asked in slight annoyance this time.
She giggled. "You know what you need to do, right?" She asked. I tilted my head. She smirked. "You can get to know him more if you talk to him outside the cafe." She continued.
I furrowed my eyebrows at her idea. "What- no. I could literally get fired for that." I exclaimed.

As Natalie opened her mouth to answer me, she was interrupted by a voice.
"You could also get fired for not taking my order."
We both instantly turned to the customer to see that it was in fact Noah. The anxiety I felt for an angry customer disappeared and I grinned. "Hey Noah!" I chirped. Natalie followed behind me, then she smiled. "Hi Noah." She happily said. Noah grinned. "Heyyy, yall are pretty cute in aprons." He teased. I rolled my eyes and Natalie tightened her ponytail. "I know I am." She answered with a smile.
"You gonna order today or tomorrow, loser." I asked. Noah looked up at the menu above our heads. He sighed, then pouted. "You guys basically only have coffee?" He asked. Natalie rolled her eyes. "It's almost like we work at a cafe." She said.
Noah groaned and rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't like coffeee." He complained.
"Then why are you here?" I asked him. He looked at me and grinned. "To annoy you at work too." He explained with such excitement. I rolled my eyes. "Don't make me call my manager for harassment." I threatened. He gave a silly angry pout. "That's an abuse of power." He complained. I looked at him. "Yeah, that's the point." I said.
Natalie sighed. "Go away you idiottt, you're gonna hold up the line." She said. Noah rose his eyebrow. "There was no line when I got here-" He said, turning around to see two customers behind him, waiting. "-Oh shit! When did that happen." He asked quietly to himself it seemed.
Noah looked at us and smiled. "Okay well, I'm out losers. Bye guys!" He said, walking out. Me and Natalie both looked at each other, then we continued our day.

"Medium, black." He said, handing me his card. I felt annoyance. I didn't bother to ask if he wanted anything else. Its been more than a week of me trying to get something out of him, but he blocks each time.
I made his same stupid coffee and gave it to his same stupid hand with his same stupid face.
I furrowed my eyebrows as he began to walk away. My anger grew, and that's when my competitive side really struck out because I remembered what Natalie said, and without hesitation, I left from behind the counter.
I walked in front of him before he sat down.
He stopped in his tracks and looked down at me, staring at me. I looked back up at him. Suddenly, I felt intimidated. Going up in front of him like that was an impulse move for sure. I felt that fuzzy shiver and silently gulped.
He slightly tilted his head, coffee in hand. "May I help you?" He asked calmly. I pursed my lips, fiddled my fingers, then just went for it. "Do you uh-... Do you maybe want to go out sometime?" I asked, shy and hesitant.
He blinked softly, silent for a few seconds. I felt all my regrets and embarrassment rise. Until he said, "Sure."
My confidence restored again and I grinned. I grabbed my pen on my apron that I use to write on the customers cups. And with a click, I wrote my number down on his cup, slightly touching his hand while doing so. I felt my face growing warmer. And when I was done, I put my pen back and looked up at him.
He looked down at me. "You're not going to give up. Are you?" He asked quietly. I gave a big fat silly smile and shook my head no. He eyed me up and down for a second, then walked away to his table. And internally, I celebrated.
