This was such a fun chapter to write. I appreciate all of your support and enjoy this update.
"One of the wizard's most rudimentary skills is levitation. Or the ability to make objects fly. Uh, do you all have your feathers?" The professor asks the students. Hermione and Vela race each other to hold their feathers in the air first. "Good." Ron doesn't even lift his head up. "And now don't forget the nice wrist movement we've been practicing, hmm? The swish and flick. Everyone." The students gather their wands and mimick the professor.
"The swish and flick."
"Good, oh, and enunciate. Wingardium leviosa. Off you go then." The students work on levitating their feathers.
"Wingardium leviosa." The whole room is filled with the students chanting. Vela is getting frustrated that her father isn't moving. Vela expects things to work, and it frustrates her when it doesn't.
"Wingardium leviosa." Vela chants.
"See, you're not that brilliant." Draco mocks her. Vela glares and pushes him out of his chair.
"Miss Malfoy." The professor scolds her.
"I'm sorry, professor." Vela apologizes.
"Just don't do it again." He scolds her.
"It won't." She assures him. When he turns away, she looks at Draco on the ground. "Do you want me to show you the spells I do know how to cast?" Draco shakes his head and scrambles to his seat, and scoots away from his sister.
"Wingardium leviosar." Ron says the spell wrong and proceeds to hit his wand on the table.
"No, stop, stop, stop." Hermione puts her hand out, stopping him. "You're going to take someone's eye out. Besides, you're saying it wrong. It's levi-osa. Not levio-sar."
"You do it, then, if you're so clever. Go on. Go on." Hermione takes the challenge.
"Wingardium leviosa." Hermione chants, and her feather levitates into the air. Vela looks over, and jealousy washes over her. Never in her life has anyone been better than her, and it infuriated her.
