"You!" I poked my finger at his chest. "You're. . .You're terrible!"I had dragged Stephen from the class while he talked to Vincent and took him to an empty class. I didn't want attention from the remaining classmates. For some reason, Vincent didn't follow. Stephen had kept asking where I was dragging him to and why I was dragging him the way I was but ironically, for once he didn't try to pull away. I thought nothing of it because I was raging.
The classroom we were in was dark. The only light partially illuminating the place was the light from the full moon.
Stephen wrapped his fingers around my pointing finger and brought it down slowly. "I can explain –"
"Stephen what the hell is wrong with you! Are you okay? Why did you agree to the stupid dare?!"
Stephen just backed up a bit and sighed. "Just give me listening ears-"
"Like you want to ruin our friendship the second time?!" I asked in anger and exasperation.
"I had to!"
"And what the hell do you mean by you had to?" I crossed my arms on my chest and tapped my foot impatiently. "Oya o. I'm giving you ear now."
He made to step closer but my glare was enough to get standing back at his original position. "See if I didn't do that there was no way I would ever be able to talk to you."
"I'm not understanding you sha."
"Two things were involved. Either you swore never to talk to me or even look at me for the rest of your life or you would drag me out to talk–yell instead and insult me. So basically it was a gamble and luckily I won." He smiled.
This boy was smiling like this whole thing was a joke to him. His pink lips were stretched into a Cheshire grin like I was a joke to him. I deepened my scowl.
"So you're saying that you predicted this? Like me dragging you out?"
"Exactly."
I said nothing. I just stared at Stephen Olarewaju as he stared back at me.
This boy pulled a stupid stunt in front of my friend, his val who was likely obsessed with his unfortunately beautiful face and I'm supposed to feel fly because he was trying to talk to me?
It was flattering to be sincere. I mean, he was the one finally seeking me out after being terrible to me and I could feel my head swelling.
But Jessica definitely would not think it was flattering. But I didn't want my friendship going down the drain again because of a boy, the same boy.
Stephen's honey brown eyes pleaded silently for a response but I kept staring. Stephen eventually scratched the back of his neck and opened his mouth to say something. I didn't give him the chance. I turned towards the door and walked away from him.
"Nairobi chill!" Stephen was already in front of me.
"Comot for my front. Stephen abeg avoid me." I didn't care how ghetto I sounded.
"Let's just clear this misunderstanding. Life's too short to be holding grudges."
I chuckled humorlessly. "You should have thought about that before deciding to be a total bi-yatch."
"First off, ouch. Secondly, I'm sorry but you left me no choice but to. I've been trying to patch things up between us–"
"Because I and Vincent are cool now?"
Stephen didn't respond affirming my theory.
"I honestly don't understand your obsession with Vincent. Is it some kind of medical or psychological disorder? Vincent wouldn't even act like this if you were in his shoes."
