I don't know how long I've been running.

I had finally managed to catch a whiff of his goddam intoxicating scent but it is distant As if he's too far gone from my reach.

I manage to come to a halt, panting heavily as I stare ahead of me in confusion and anger.

It didn't make sense, I just had him.

What the hell?

It's gone. His scent.

I can't sense him anymore. I can't smell him anymore. It's as if he just disappeared mid-air.

Shit!

No, I was wrong, his scent only increased by the minute that I thought I lost it.

He is here, but he isn't here at the same time, as if he is invisible to me. To my zombie senses.

"Odessa?"

I spin around quickly, startled by the sudden call of my name.

I gulp as I finally see him, and if I were human I would've instantly started yelling out in happiness and tackled him into a hug.

But I'm not human and all I can do I stare at him.

It's him.

I found him.

Perseus.

I don't know how much time has passed since I last saw him.

It hasn't been long, I knew that but it felt I haven't seen him in an eternity of searching for him.

Our eyes continue taking each other in and he lowers his weapon when he sees it's me and not just a fragment of his imagination.

It's been a long time since these humans have seen humans other than the ones in their community.

It's hard to come across new survivors, especially because we have wiped most of them out.

"How are you here?"

I don't answer him, but I see that he's wearing different clothes, letting me know he had to have gone back to his community indeed and was safe this whole time.
