For several years, decades even, the Maverick Hunters have served as a first responder agency to protect Giga City. They have faced many attacks, mishaps, and incidents that had nearly blown the city to smithereens during their time.
While they are often threatened by the Mavericks, they face a wide variety of other threats, from bounty hunters to haywire machinery, or even by rogue terrors.
Giga City was at one of its most peaceful times yet. The Maverick Hunters busied themselves in law enforcement, medical, and rescue tasks. For once, they felt at peace. Their focus is on helping the city.
With the Maverick Commander Sigma being gone, the hunters would try to enjoy themselves. They don't know how long this peace will last, so they may as well relish every moment of it.
However, despite all this peace, Alpha, a hunter who specialized in rescue and stealth, felt something wrong within the first few days of this peaceful time. She was always waking up feeling distressed because of nightmares. Nightmares where she fought someone who hasn't haunted her dreams since the beginning of her Maverick Hunting Days. Despite having a run-in with him years ago, the nightmares return with a terrifying intensity. Every fight she had with him... It ends with him claiming victory. She gives it her all and yet it's not enough. Her opponent takes her down and taunts her. He tells her that she hasn't grown strong enough and never will. However, these are only dreams... They shouldn't have any effects on what happens in reality, would they? After three days of these nightmares, she decides to consult someone she trusts.
