I sing along with the song playing from my phone as I apply the light shade of pink to my puckered lips.
One last time, I need to be the one to take you home..
One more time, I promise after that I'll let you go...It was the night of the dance and I was feeling the same amount of dread I've been feeling for two weeks now. Maybe I should've just taken a chance on my mothers feelings. She be mad for an hour then back to her bubbly self.
Or maybe I could sneak out in the middle of the night. But go where? Perhaps Skylars house... She has a new cat.
That's out the picture, I think to myself.
Okay.. I've officially lost it.
Once I made it clear that my mom and dad were forcing me to go to the dance to Skylar, she made the highest pitched squeal you can ever imagine.
Even thought she's small and petite, she screams louder then a dozen children, getting what they want for Christmas.
For real.
"Are you ready yet? The Dukes are down the street, Hun." my mom yelled impatiently from the stairs. I turn down my Ariana and sigh in frustration.
Ever since the Asher's came into town, Noah's parents and my parents have been best friends. Just because our parents are really close doesn't mean I've chosen to associate with the imbecile.
You see, the Lakeside High Ball was an annual event. Yea, they had regular dances and all that here - and - there, but this, this was the main event. Then the Valentine ball couple months back and the Winter Masquerade Ball last year.
I usually love my schools dances and such, but that was before I had to go with Noah Asher.
"Almost ready!" I yelled back to my mom as I dusted the light scarlet blush on my plain, pale cheeks.
I glance at myself once more in the mirror, my brown curls hanging on one shoulder and down my back, my cherry red lips and black shadowy eyelids.
Ready, I thought.
I stand and take slow steps, afraid to trip over my dress. Huge and pale pink, but pretty all together. Clutching it with my hands, I lift it a little. I was anything but used to wearing heels so of course it was a struggle making my way down the stairs. I sigh in relief as I safely touch the ground, unscathed.
That was hard..
I nearly jump out of my skin as I hear a low whistle behind me and quickly turn around. Noah Asher stands in my doorway, eyeing me up and down. "Um my eyes are right here." I say, snapping my fingers to get his attention. His eyes flutter to mine and he smirks. That evil smirk of his.
"I know." he says.
My jaw practically drops to the ground but I recover quickly as I shove him to the side and walked out the door. I heard him chuckle and his presence follows me outside. I waited for him to remove himself from in front of the door so I could lock up and make my way down the street.
The school was just up the road, so the Asher's and my parents have probably already made their way up.
"Do you always walk that fast?" Noah inquires from behind. I sighed, trying to contain my irritation. "Only when I'm with you.." I mutter and continue to walk at my steady pace.
"Maybe you should walk faster. We'll both be 100 by the time you catch up." I state monotonously, keeping a blank face as he takes long strides to catch up. I don't notice he walked directly behind me until I feel his fingers slide on my sides and I'm lifted up into his arms and twisted so that his hands were under my thighs and back.
