Congratulations! you died, and now you have to work for the king of ghosts. Have funnnnnnnn!
King boo had just received word that another person had just died. Usually, he wouldn't care about someone dying, but his last servant had finally moved on to the beyond, so he needed another one to do the chores that he just didn't want to do, so he wasted no time heading to the area the new ghost was located at.
It didn't take him long to arrive at the scene due to king boo teleporting, but he had no idea the scene he was about to see. In front of a giant oak tree was a young man's corpse. The man had his chest cavity ripped open and was missing his heart, both of his eyes with the knife still stuck in one of the sockets, and the poor guy was also missing his right arm.
It was a brutal murder scene, and because of how late it was, the body wouldn't be found till the morning. The thing that was worrying King Boo was that there was no trace of the ghost and a person that had been murdered is more likely to come back a corrupted and restless spirit than the average ghost. King boo looked around just to make sure he hadn't missed anything when a glowing white light emerged from the corpse.
Out of the corpse came a ghost that did not take the appearance of a typical boo. It looked just like the corpse pre-death, except he didn't have legs, rather a ghost tale. He seemed to shine a little brighter due to him possessing a soul of purity, leaving King Boo confused since ghosts with pure souls were the sweetest people you would ever meet in life. King Boo wanted to know why somebody took your life from you.
King Boo decided to grab your hand gently and teleport so you would have to look at your corpse. It was easier since most ghosts appear from their bodies and spend the first few minutes reliving their life while leaving out how they died. It was a sort of bittersweet goodbye to everything you used to know. King Boo didn't interrupt you reliving everything you did in life since he knows how important it could be to some ghosts, and he would hate to take that away from you.
You had finished the flashback of your life and opened your eyes to take in your surroundings before your eyes landed on King Boo, who waved at you and tried not to scare you. "Hi, I am King Boo King of boos, and you are..... dead but don't worry! I King Boo need a new servant, and you were perfect for the job! You lucky soul! As long as you do everything I ask, you can stay here safe from all the other cowards who fear us." King Boo had explained the whole deal while trying to tell you the news gently.
You were in shock. You were dead? You finally looked at yourself to see the bright white colour of yourself and noticed your ghost tail. You weren't sure what to do. On the one hand, cool, you can float. On the other, you were dead King Boo had a feeling that you were processing things, so he decided to ask you questions to keep you calm and focused. He did this cause he knows that shock can cause ghosts to spiral out of control.
"What's your name?" King Boo asked in a soft voice. You looked over to King Boo before muttering your name "(y/n) it's (y/n) (l/n)" you were still wrapping your head around your new ghost body and trying to remember how you died. "How old are you?" King Boo asked another question watching you and making sure you were okay. You had to think for a minute before answering, "I was (age). How did I die?" You had decided to ask your own question.
The male I now know as (y/n) asked me a rather uncomfortable question, and I had no idea how to answer him. How do you tell a pure soul they were murdered? I decided to take the long route to the main answer. "Well, what do you remember?" I asked him maybe this way, and I could also get some insight on what exactly happened. He seemed lost in thought which made sense since new souls take a while to remember every aspect of their old life, which meant he could only remember snippets.
After a while, he finally spoke, "I remember walking through the forest at night with somebody. I-I can't remember who they were, but I can feel that I cared about them deeply, but how does that tell me how I died?" They explained what they remembered, which made my make-belief heart sink, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions, but as much it would probably shock them, it would be better if I told them instead of them finding out on their own so I did "You were murdered." I said bluntly and watched as his face fell. He couldn't seem to comprehend that he was murdered.
I decided to change the subject quickly. "Well, I can tell you need time to think about this, and I'm afraid I can't answer any more questions about your death besides what I saw. I am sorry that this happened to you but please if you could follow me to your resting quarters you could have time to yourself and figure out things a little." I started to move toward the servants resting quarters and checked behind me every so often to make sure he was still following me. He was, thankfully, but he had the look of sorrow on his face. It was like he felt that his death was his own fault when in reality, it most likely couldn't be helped.
I had led him to the room and informed him that I would check up on him in a couple of hours. He just nodded and went into the room.
King Boo had kept his promise and allowed you to stay while you did whatever you were assigned. King Boo, however, was beginning to see as much more than a servant and started asking you to do more things in rooms he was in or followed you to whatever room the next chore was and helped you out. Sometimes he would materialise roses and give them to you, trying to hint at his obvious crush on you, but these flew over your head, but you always thanked him and placed it in a nearby vase, and if there isn't one, you held it in your mouth until you could find one.
However, one day you hadn't come out of your room to do your chores, and it worried King Boo. He had come to check on you but got no answer, so he went through the door and saw you with your head in your hands in a hunched over position on the floor, and your bright soul was now dimmed to the point it looked like that of an average boo. King Boo had no idea what to do, so he did what felt right and embraced you.
You hugged back and cried. "Th-they killed m-me" You hiccuped, and King Boo held you closer and whispered, "Who?" it didn't take long for an answer. "My- My fiancée", You sobbed, holding onto King Boo tighter. Things suddenly clicked for King Boo souls who had suffered from a loved one usually found it harder to understand signs of affection or flirting. He should have seen it sooner.
"They didn't deserve you (y/n), and I'm sorry they betrayed your trust like that, but I promise I would never do that to you. If you would give me a chance, that is." King boo kept his caring tone that is while being very upfront about wanting to date you. "H-huh?" You didn't understand what he meant by 'giving him a chance'.
King Boo realised the hug before letting out a sigh, seemingly getting himself prepared for something. Suddenly King Boo kissed you, and for a couple of seconds, you were in shock but as soon as you got over it, you started to kiss back. King Boo eventually broke the kiss and said, "I care about you more than just a servant or friend, more like a lover so what I'm asking is, will you let me be your boyfriend? If you don't want to it's totally fine considering what you've already suffered."
Still dazed from the kiss, it took you a second to process what King Boo had just asked, but when you had finally understood and nodded your head. You were engulfed in a massive hug and got kisses all over your face causing you to giggle and almost forget the horrible memory that had just resurfaced. It felt nice to be held again.
King Boo was a lot more expressive with how he showed you affection. Whether he randomly kissed you or picked you up and hugged you, he absolutely loved showing you affection physically and being honest, you loved it too.
Hey! First request!!! Now, if this isn't what the person wanted, or they wanted (y/n) to be alive, I am more than happy to make another one shot with different scenarios since I have a lot of motivation and spare time for this. One-shot book! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it!
Anyway, the word count 1600
