The first day at our cabin started out pretty normal. I woke up at seven am, took a long shower, put on a green summer dress which went upto my knees and braided my hair at my side leaving a few fringes falling by my face on both sides. Sliding on a pair of flats, I ran down and made some coffee and then spent the rest of the morning exploring the rest of the cabin. The place was beautiful- just the kind which I have always dreamt of. Maple wood flooring, log wood walls, brown curtains, glass windows, and the interior decoration was exactly what I would have planned of doing if I had gotten it done, which was also like I decorated my home. All together, the place just oozed out comfort and looked like it had come straight out of my Pinterest feed showing brown aesthetic like a pro-dark academian. I literally fell in love with it as soon as I put one feet inside. In fact, I seriously don't think Mia lost even one drop of sweat regarding the decorations otherwise they would have been modern and consisting of bright colours instead of this old seventeenth century type furniture. I am assuming the previous owner had gotten it decorated himself.
By the time I was finished looking through each and every corner of the cabin, Spencer and Adam were up. Spencer was brooding at nothing as always while brewing his coffee in the kitchen and Adam was going through his phone on the dining table.
I took a seat beside Adam and poured myself a glass of water. "So, what are we going to do about the groceries and food?"
Adam looked up from his phone and glanced at me cluelessly, with a furrowed brow, "Huh?"
"The village, Adam! The market was closed yesterday.... "
Realization flashed in his eyes, "Uh yeah.... hmm... " He paused to think. "We should go take a look at it again... It's morning and maybe the shops are open today."
I doubted very much for such a thing to happen though. Yesterday was a normal week day and if the shops are normally open and working, why would they be closed suddenly and then open the next morning? It didn't make any sense. But again, what did make sense in my life?
And also, I trusted his opinion very much. What would go wrong in checking once, Right?
That's why I agreed on it and that's why now we were driving through the woods once again to take another look at the village. Sarah begged to stay behind and though it was kind of dangerous for her to stay alone at a place like this, they agreed because she wouldn't budge. I was a bit paranoid like always to let her stay but lately I've been training myself to just chill and panic less and that's why during the drive I distracted myself a little on my phone by researching about this village we were placed near. I typed the name of the village and tapped on the little magnifying glass at the right of the bar, waiting for the results to show so that my nerves get a little peace. In seconds a number of links were displayed on my phone screen, each and every bar with a different heading but all of them meant the same. They all were going to let me in on the history of the village. I tapped on the first one and a new pop up opened.
Apparently, the village Ravenwood had a very engrossing history behind it's name and the people living in it. It didn't detail much on the reason behind the name- except for that it was named after the large black birds which are generally linked to darkness and death and were considered very strong and loyal mythical creatures. I mean let's face it, that's pretty much obvious, right? The name is Ravenwood. Duh!
Although, it did say that in the fifteenth century, the village had hundreds of people living, these people belonged to different backgrounds but all were from the highest castes; and the village then was very much known for the loaded but humble families living here. Unfortunately soon after, the war happened and dozens of these people died leaving the village barren for years. Then in the 19th century again, a group of gypsy people ended up here during one of their ventures and settled their families here resulting in the village being habited again.
