I miss him.

So much.

I miss our chats, hanging out, even sending notes in class to each other.

My heart broke when I saw him, sad, broken and just as down and out as I felt.

Which I guess confirmed what Sirius had said.

I couldn't help it.

Seeing him so broken hurt, which is probably why, when I walked into the hall and saw him sitting alone, playing with his food, I gulped, hard and took a deep breath before I walked over and sat beside him.

I had to talk to him.

I needed to know if there was still chance for us, even after all this time away from
one another.

I sat in silence for a minute, just looking at him, wanting to see if he noticed me. While waiting, I had enough time to look him over.

He looked tired, had dark circles under his eyes, he looked pail and that twinkle of Mischief I always loved to see in his eyes had gone out.

He looked like James Potter.

But he almost looked empty.

I must have been sat there for about five minutes and James still hadn't noticed me, so I had to make myself known.

"You know, you shouldn't think so hard. I can smell your brain working overtime." I spoke up... well more like mumbled, making James's head snap up to look at me in shock.

His wide eyes, messy hair and mouth that hung agape made me giggle alittle.

"F.. Frankie?" James gawped, still shocked. "What... What.."

"Hi James." I smiled shyly at him.

"Wha...What are you doing here? I...I thought you hated me."

I looked down at my fingars, my thumbs fidgeting. I felt guilty, I know what I did was wasn't fair, but I was angry and hurt.

I let out a sigh and I shrugged.

"I didn't hate you James, I could never hate you."

"Then why'd avoid me for a whole?"

"I... don't... I can't..." I began but then I sighed and looked up at him. "Can we go somewhere? To talk?"

In an instant James perked up and practically jumped up out of his seat.

"O...of course Frankie, where would you like to go?" he asked. I couldn't help but smile as I stood up.

"Well, we could go into Hogsmead?" I offered but James shook his head.

"No, it'd just be a whole awkward ride down there and it'll give you time to talk yourself out of talking to me." he rushed, and I let out a laugh

"I won't talk myself out of anything J, I swear." I promised, giving him a reassuring smile.

"How about we go to the common room? It'll be quiet with everyone at Hogsmead." he offered.

"How about a walk? We can head down to the lake. We always had nice chats down there." l countered with a shrugged.

"Yeah, that sounds good. Come on, we'll go grab our coats and head out now." He nodded, almost excitedly.

The walk up to the common room was quiet, only slightly awkward, mostly though I was concentracting on what I would say to James.
