After Jake and I were in my room I shut the door and locked it. "Hey, are you ok?" Jake eyed me suspiciously. "I'm fine. Why do you ask?" I looked at him. "Well you're acting like your house is about to explode or something." He said. If only you knew. "I'm fine. Let's just rehearse." I said before pulling out my script and getting to business.
"What were you thinking? You don't even like the smell of alcohol." Mark looked at me curiously. "I just wanted to see what it was like." I shrugged my shoulders. "Lilly, I understand you're hurting, but if you plan on doing anything like this again, please call me first." He said calmly. "Why?" I asked him, and it came out a little harsher than I intended. "Because I'm the only one you have who can stop you from making stupid decisions." He answered. "I don't need your help!" I yelled. I was getting agitated. Who does he think he is? Telling me I need to change my behavior and call him before I decide to do anything. "Yes you do!" He yelled back. "Just leave me alone. You're such a hypocrite." I tried my best not to cry. "A hypocrite?" He stared at me like I just smacked him. "Yes. You drink and get high all the time. You have sex with random girls and do stupid shit all the time! But the moment I start acting the slightest bit different and actually doing things I want to do, you tell me no. News flash, you're not my dad. I can do whatever I want and I don't need your permission." I felt a tear slide down my cheek. "You know what? Fine. Do whatever you want Lilly. I don't care anymore." He replied and then stormed out of my room.
When Jake entered my room again a few seconds later, we looked at each other and he gave me a nod of approval. I gave him a small smile. "We should run it again." I said, and we ran over that scene two more times before Jake refused to do it again. "Do you have anything to drink?" Jake asked after I set my script down. "Yeah. Come on." I nodded and we both walked down to the kitchen. Before I could even get a cup down, Frank joined us. "Hey Shannon." He smirked. I ignored him. I quietly got two cups down and looked at Jake. "Does Pepsi work?" I asked. "Uh, yeah." He looked from Frank to me, confusion clear on his face. He looks cute when he's confused. "Have you started packing your things?" Frank asked, trying to get a reply out of me. Instead of answering him, I pretended to be really interested in my pop pouring technique. "I know you're not happy about moving, but I really think you'll like my house." Frank added. He just can't take a hint. "Hi, I'm Frank. Who are you?" Frank held his hand out for Jake to shake, but before Jake could grab it and introduce himself, I positioned my body in front of him. "This is my boyfriend. Now if you'll excuse us, we were in the middle of something." I snapped. "Ahh, didn't push this one away I see." Frank winked at Jake, and Jake just gave him a confused look. "Nope. We fuck all the time. Now if you'll excuse us, I promised him we could try anal today." I pushed Frank out of the way and went back upstairs. I really hate that creep. Once me and Jake were back in my room, I locked the door, sat down on my bed, and let out a frustrated sigh. Jake sat down next to me and neither one of us said anything for a long time. I felt better just being near him. After what felt like an hour, I finally broke the silence. "Sorry you had to see that." I apologized. "It's all good. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised and slightly inpressed at how you put that guy in his place." He smiled. "Thanks." I chuckled. "But I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't completely confused." He added. "Who the hell is he? Is he like some creepy ex of yours?" He asked. "Ha. If only that's all he was." I replied. I noticed Jake's face twist in confusion. "He's not a creepy ex. He's my mom's boyfriend, and owner of my soon to be new house." I replied monotonously. "But--" "I know." I cut him off. "Does your mom know?" He asked quietly. I just shook my head no. He stared at me for a few seconds and hesitantly placed his hand on top of mine, causing sparks to envelope my entire arm. We looked at each other for a few seconds and I couldn't help but admire how beautiful he was. His eyes were so intense and captivating I couldn't look anywhere else. My face was so warm I could feel my heartbeat in my ears. Slowly, Jake began to lean in, and instead of stopping him like I expected my body to do, it too began leaning closer. We were only centimeters apart. I could feel his warm breath against my lips, and my stomach began to flutter nervously. Just...a...little...further..."SHANNON!" The sound of my mom's voice snapped me back to reality and I quickly pulled away. I jumped out of bed and opened my door. "What?!" I yelled back. "Erick's here!" She yelled. I quickly turned and looked at Jake expecting him to be freaking out like I was, but he looked calmer than ever. He slowly stood up from my bed, grabbed his things, and walked passed me without a word. I followed him down the stairs and to the front door. When Erick seen us both, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What's up bro?" Erick asked as Jake approached him. "Not much. Just came to get my bandana back from the party the other night." Jake lied. Erick nodded his head like everything made sense again. "Were you planning on coming to the park with me and the guys?" Erick asked Jake. "Yeah." Jake nodded his head yes. "Sweet. Well look, I know this is kind of awkward since you two don't know each other, but could Shannon ride with you? I kind of have a full car with the guys." Erick gave me an apologetic look. "Yeah It's fine with me." Jake shrugged his shoulders. "Are you ok with that?" Both guys looked at me. Am I ok with spending fifteen minutes with my arms wrapped around Jake? Yes. I'm 100% ok with that. "Yeah, I guess." I nodded my head. I noticed Jake smirk out of the corner of my eye and Erick gave me a genuine smile. "Great. You guys can follow us there." He said and then went back to his car. "You're gonna want this." Jake said, offering me the only helmet he had. "What about you?" I asked. "I'll be fine. Just take the helmet." He insisted. I sighed and slipped the helmet over my head. He looked me up and down and couldn't help but smirk. "What?" I asked. "Nothing." He shook his head and got situated on the seat. I hesitated before getting on. "Come on nerd. We don't have all day." He gave me a cocky smile. "I'm not a nerd." I smacked him playfully on the shoulder, and got on the back of the motorcycle. As soon as it started, my body vibrated with the bike, and I immediately wrapped my arms around Jake and refused to let go. I felt his body shake with laughter. "Here we go." He yelled and then put the bike in gear before taking off down the road.
