I woke up the next morning unaware of my surroundings. I was in an unfamiliar room laying in a strangers bed. And then I remembered, I'm in Jakes bed. Suddenly, last nights events came rushing back to the surface like a hurricane. Me 'dumping' Erick, my mom choosing Frank over me, and me being dumb and leaving home. And obviously the fact that me and Jake finally kissed. We kissed. Twice. And it was freaking amazing. My stomach did a retarded flip just thinking about it. When I checked my phone I noticed it was only 7am. I quietly slipped out of bed and opened Jakes bedroom door. I silently tiptoed my way to the bathroom, careful not to wake anyone. "You won't wake them." I nearly jumped out of my skin at the sound of Sydney next to me. "You scared the hell out of me!" I gasped and placed my hand over my heart to try and calm down. She gave me an entertained smile and just looked at me. "You're different." She said. "Excuse me?" I asked. "Than the other girls he usually brings home. Usually I can figure out the kind of girls they are as soon as I see them. But I can't figure you out." She said. I was baffled by how grown up she sounded. "How old are you again?" I asked, but I smiled when I said it so it didn't sound like I was accusing her of something. "Nine. But I'm very mature for my age." She answered proudly. "I can tell." I complimented. "And trust me, I'm a good change from the girls Jake usually brings over." I gave her a knowing look and she smiled. "Where did you meet my brother?" She asked me. "I met him at school." I whispered. "You don't have to whisper. Him and my mom are really heavy sleepers." She said. "Wait, why are you up?" I asked her. "If I counted on my mom to wake me up every morning I'd never make it to school on time, so I set my alarm for 6:45am every day and catch the bus." She replied, and I couldn't surpress the laugh that formed in my throat. "You're quite the independent mind aren't you?" I smiled. I like her. "I have to be." She shrugged her shoulders and went to the kitchen. I followed her. "So how long have you and Jake been seeing each other?" She asked. "We're not. Seeing each other I mean. Atleast I don't think we are." I stuttered. She looked at me with a confused look. "We uh, we've only had our first kiss yesterday." I said shyly, unsure of how much to tell her. "How long have you known each other?" She asked. "Uhh, about two weeks." I admitted. I hope she doesn't think I'm a slut for kissing Jake after only two weeks. "Wow. He must really like you." She said, as she grabbed a piece of bread and put it in the toaster. "Why do you think that?" I looked at her. "Well for starters, if he's just attracted to a girl, he'll bring her here the day they meet. He's impatient like that. Second, he's never waited two weeks before kissing a girl. And last, he's never brought a girl home and not slept in the same bed with her. He's being...a gentleman to you." She looked over at Jake who was sound asleep on the couch, and gave him a sweet smile. "Well maybe he's only being this way because he just wants to be friends." I said, secretly hoping she would disagree with me. "That's possible." She nodded her head, and I felt my heart sink. "But not likely. I can tell he likes you." She added, and my hope was suddenly restored. She seen this and grabbed my hand. "Don't hurt him." She warned, and then let go of my hand. "Trust me, I have no intention of hurting Jake." I reassured her. "Good. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna be late if I don't leave now." She said, grabbing her toast and heading towards the door. "Do you need a ride to the bus stop?" I asked. "No it's just down the road. Thanks though. See you later?" She asked. I nodded my head I could just see the shape of a smile form on her lips before she turned and left. I smiled at myself, and went back to the bedroom to wait for Jake to wake up. Surprisingly, he came into the room a few minutes after me. "Morning." He smiled, and I was momentarily distracted by his morning voice and bare chest that I forgot to respond right away. "You know, if you take a picture it'll last longer." He smirked and I felt my cheeks get warm. He chuckled at my response and slipped on a white t-shirt then joined me in the bed. It felt like all the air suddenly left my lungs. We're alone. In his bed. With his door shut. "Relax." He grabbed my hand, brought it to his mouth, and gently kissed the back of it. I almost sighed at how sweet the gesture was. "I'm fine. Totally not freaking out." I replied and he couldn't help but laugh. "What classes do you have today?" He asked, thankfully changing the subject. "Math and English." I replied dryly. There's no way I'll be able to focus on anything other than the memory of mine and Jakes kiss yesterday. Especially quadratic formulas. "Want me to drive you?" He asked, and it was hard to concentrate due to the fact that he was still holding my hand. "It's ok, I can drive." I politely declined his offer. "Ok, well what time do you get out?" He asked. "My English class gets over at 2pm." I answered. "Alright. My biology class gets over at 1:30pm, so I'll wait for you in the parking lot, and then we can come back here and rehearse." He smiled. "Sounds good." I nodded my head and smiled. "My class doesn't start for another four hours though, so I'm gonna go back to bed." He said, and rolled over on his side so he was facing me. "Alright. Well mine starts in an hour so I'm gonna get ready." I smiled and hesitantly pressed my lips to his cheek. I was about to get out of bed, but he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me back down towards him. "Whoa!" I yelled and fell on top of him. "What ar--" I was cut off by the feel of Jakes lips against mine. I willingly returned the kiss, and melted into him. I don't think I could ever get used to the feeling of his lips against mine. It was the best feeling in the world. Surprisingly I was the first to pull away. "I have to get ready." I whispered and quickly jumped out of bed so he couldn't grab me again. "I'll see you later." He smiled and then closed his eyes. "See ya." I whispered, before grabbing my bag and heading to the bathroom to get dressed.
