Chapter 18

After dinner, Jake and I decided to go on a walk since we still had about two hours of daylight left. "So, tell me about yourself." I said as we walked hand in hand down the sidewalk. "What do you want to know?" He looked over at me. "Everything. But start with the basics." I smiled. "Alright, well I was born on November 26th, 1994 here in Bristol. My favorite color is black, my favorite animal is a monkey, I love sleeping, and my favorite food is Dominos." He said. "Your turn." He ordered. "Wait, what do you do for fun?" I asked. "I uhh, I actually like to sing." He admitted. "Really?" I looked at him with wide eyes. I never imagined singing would be something he liked to do. "Yeah." He nodded his head. "Are you any good?" I questioned. "A couple people have told me they like my voice." He shrugged his shoulders. "Well go on then, let's hear something." I stopped walking and waited for him to sing. "Here? Now?" He looked around nervously. "Oh come on, there's like three people out here and they're all on the other side of the street." I begged. "I don't know." He shook his head. "Besides, I don't even have any music to sing to." He argued, just as a young boy with a guitar walked by. "Excuse me!" I yelled and got the boys attention. "Yeah?" He stopped and looked at me. "So, I just found out my good friend here could sing, and I was wondering if you could play a little something on your guitar so he can prove it." I smiled politely. "Uh, sure." He shrugged his shoulders and joined me and Jake. "There. Now you have music." I smiled at Jake and he just gave me a death glare. Eventually, he looked at the kid with the guitar and asked if he knew the song Cupids Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes. He did, and they ended up singing. The guitar kid jumped in here and there because he knew the song, and he wasn't bad, but I was focused on Jake. And HOLY SHIT can he sing. I never would have believed him if I hadn't seen this. They ended up singing Too Close by Alex Clare and Bassline Junkie, by someone whose name I can't remember.

By the time they were done, I was totally impressed. Me and Jake both thanked the boy and continued on with our walk. "That was amazing. I had no idea you could sing like that." I gushed. "Thanks. It's just something I do in my spare time though." He chuckled. "Why? I mean, you could make a career out of it." I was being totally honest. "That'd be great, but I don't have the resources to make it happen." He shrugged his shoulders and looked up at the sky. "Now, tell me about you." He said, changing the subject. "Alright, well for starters I don't really like when people are all romantic. It kinda freaks me out. Just to give you a heads up. I'm really sarcastic once I get comfortable around people, my favorite color is purple, I have an older sister, I only drink water, and I love pizza and cookies. I also love tattoos and summer, but Christmas is my favorite holiday, and I'm a total nerd, but you already knew that." I giggled. "What about fun?" He asked. "Uh, well, I don't get out much but I really like to read." I said. "We're gonna have to work on that." He smiled at me. "Jake?!" Me and Jake suddenly stopped at the sound of someone yelling his name. When we turned, there was a crowd of guys headed our way. When they finally approached us, Jake began hugging them. "What's up guys?" He greeted after he was done hugging them. "Not much man, just got done chillin at the park, playing some football." The guy with the big muscles answered. "Nice. We'll have to hang out soon. It's been ages since we've last seen each other." Jake replied. "We were actually thinking of hanging out this weekend if you want to join us?" The one who spoke this time had an Irish accent. "Yeah definitely. Just get a hold of me later." Jake nodded his head. The strange boys all started to look at me one by one. When Jake noticed this, he grabbed my hand and said, "Shannon, this is Charlie, Reece, James, Chris, Casey, Barclay, and Tom." He pointed to each boy as he said their name and then said, "boys, this is my girlfriend Shannon."
