Chapter 37

Tuesday afternoon after my math and english class, I went home to wait for Jake so we could do a final run through of the play. When I got there, he texted and said he would be a little late because he had to pick Sydney up from school and take her home. I decided to make myself some luch while I waited, and catch up on my TV shows. I was half way through the latest episode of 'The Flash' when he finally showed up. "Come in!" I yelled from the couch because I was too lazy to get up. Plus, this episode was really intense and I didn't want to miss anything. "You watch The Flash?" He asked when he noticed what I was watching. "Of course. The Flash and Arrow are life." I said dramatically and he just shook his head at me. He sat down next to me and politely let me finish the episode. When it was over, I turned the TV off and we went up to my bedroom. "I see you're all unpacked." He said while lightly kicking the stack of empty boxes. "Yup." I smiled and walked towards him before wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing him. "What was that for?" He asked after I pulled away. "I don't know." I shrugged my shoulders. "Can't I kiss the boy I love without needing a reason?" I asked, and we both smiled at that. "Of course you can." He said quietly before leaning in and pressing his lips to mine. "You do realize we're one of those couples that makes everyone else nauseous because we're so in love, right?" I said, finally removing my arms from around his neck and turning to grab my script from my dresser. "I know." He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, practically making me melt against him. "We need to practice." I told him, but made no efforts to leave his arms. "Do we?" He whispered and placed a warm kiss on my neck, causing a chill to travel down my spine. "Y-yes." I stuttered, and my mouth suddenly got really dry which not only happens when I'm about to cry, but also when I get nervous. "Whatever you say." He whispered and then released me and walked over to my bed. The new found space between us made me feel like someone dumped ice water on me, like it wasn't natural for us to be so far apart. "Alright. Here we go. Our last run through." I said once I could think clearly again. "Here we go." He smiled, and we began our last rehearsal.

"I can't believe we perform tomorrow. I'm gonna miss Mark and Lilly." I sighed. "Oddly enough, I'm gonna miss them too." Jake agreed, and we both sat on my bed in silence for a few minutes. "Oh, guess what?" I said, breaking the silence. "What?" He looked over at me. "The X Factor is holding open auditions in a few weeks." I said excitedly. "Are you going to audition?" He asked and raised his eyebrows questioningly. "Nooo, but I thought you might be interested." I replied. "Oh. Well I'm not." He stated. "What? Why not?" I was confused. "I mean, I love to sing, but I don't think I'm good enough for a show like that. Plus, I couldn't leave my mom and sister like that." He shook his head like the thought of it made him sick. "Wouldn't they want you to go after your dream?" I asked, trying to change his mind. "Maybe, but--" "but what? You love singing and they're holding open auditions. What is there to think about?" I was getting annoyed at how he wasn't even considering it. "I don't want to do it. That's it. End of discussion." He snapped. "Well I already signed you up." I said, and he looked at me like I just slapped him. "You what?" He stared at me. "It's just an audition Jake." I sighed. "I don't care. I didn't ask you to do that!" He yelled and stood up from my bed. "I know you didn't, but I thought you'd be a little more grateful!" I yelled back. "Grateful? For what? You went behind my back and made a decision about my life without even asking me!" He was pissed. "It's just an audition." I repeated. "I don't care. I'm not going." He stated bluntly and then grabbed his jacket and stormed out of my room. Well that went well.

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW MY SISTER IS GOING TO BE FINE. SHE'S NO LONGER UNDER SEDATION, AND THEY REMOVED THE BREATHING TUBE SO SHE'S BREATHING ALL ON HER OWN NOW.
