When Jake pulled up at my house, my mom and Frank were in the driveway having a conversation. I slowly got off the bike and handed Jake his helmet. "I'm so dead." I mumbled after I seen my moms face. She absolutely hates motorcycles, and the fact that she just watched her only daughter get off of one, made her eyes widen in shock and her jaw almost hit the ground. Jake chuckled and then grabbed my hand, capturing my undivided attention. "I'll see you Saturday right?" He asked. "We'll see." I winked and then walked away. I could only imagine the look on his face as I walked towards my probable death. I'm sure it was a mix of smugness and shock, which made me smile. I heard him rev the engine and tear away down the street. I was planning on just walking passed my mom and into the house, but she grabbed me and turned me to face her. And Frank. "What's going on with you two?" She asked. "Mom, he's just a friend." I rolled my eyes. "Really? That's not what Frank told me. In fact, he told me you two were...fornicating earlier." She stuttered. "Well Frank should learn to mind his own damn business." I snapped. "Shannon, language!" My mom looked at me with such shock. "Sorry. But no, me and Jake were not having sex, nor have we ever had sex." I assured her. "Shannon I'm sorry, I just don't believe that." She sighed. "What?" Was all I could say. "Your door was locked and you were in there for quite a while." She said. "Yeah, because we were doing homework." I said, emphasizing the last word. She sighed and shook her head. "You're seriously going to believe him over me?" I tried my best to hide the hurt. My mom just srared at me. "I'm sorry." She whispered. "Wow." I nodded my head and I could feel my hands beginning to shake with anger. "You know what? Frank was right. Me and Jake we're having sex. Anal to be exact. And let me tell you, it felt fucking amazing!" I yelled, and then stormed into the house. I ran upstairs and packed two bags. One with a random collection of clothes, and a second with all my school stuff. What? I'm still a nerd...I grabbed my phone and phone charger, and put the charger in my bag. I ran down the stairs and made my way to my car. "Where do you think you're going?" My mom asked as I walked passed her with my bags. I unlocked my car and threw my bags in the back. "I'm going to have more crazy hot sex with the guy I met two weeks ago." I said sarcastically, then shut my car door and then drove away. I quickly pulled out my phone and scrolled through my contacts. When I came across the name I was looking for, I clicked the green phone next to their name and waited for them to pick up. "Hello?" Beth answered. "Hey, would it be ok if I stayed with you for a couple nights? Me and my mom just had this major blow out." I begged. "Are you ok?" She asked hectically. "I'm fine. I just overreacted and now I need somewhere to stay." I said, as I pulled into the parking lot of a park. "Well babe you know I would help you if I could, but my grandparents are staying with us for the week and we already dpnte have enough room..." I could hear the disappointment in her voice. "Hey It's ok. I'll probably just sit in my car for a while to cool off then go back." I said. "I'm so sorry. I wish I could help. I feel like such a bad friend." She apologized. "Beth there's no need to apologize. You're a great friend. I overreacted and that's all there is to it." I replied. "Ok." She said quietly. "Alright, I'm gonna go. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Night Beth." I said lightly. "Night Shannon." She replied, and then we both hung up. I turned my car off and sat in the parking lot for a couple hours. When I got there the sun was still up, but now it was long gone. I was just contemplating going back home when someone knocked on my window. What the...? I rolled down my window. "Jake?" I couldn't believe of all people, he was the peraon in front of me. "That's my name, don't wear it out." He replied with a cocky smile. "What are you doing here?" I asked him. "I think the better question is what are you doing here?" He looked at me. I looked ahead out my windshield for a few seconds, and then back at him. "I kinda...ran away." I answered. He stared at me for a second before replying, "Can you even call it 'running away' when you're legally an adult?" He asked. I just stared at him. "Really? That's the first thing that popped in your head?" I asked. "No, that was the second. The first was that I can't wait to get you in my bed, but I figured you would find that offensive." He answered honestly. I had no words. "Seriously though, if you need somewhere to stay you're more than welcome to crash at my place. We don't have to do anything. Besides It's just me, my sister and my mom so there's plenty of room." He said. I thought for a second. "Are you sure?" I double checked. "Of course. Besides, we need to work on our script more anyway." He smiled. I nodded my head. "You know, you're not nearly as terrible as I thought you were." I smiled. "Is that so?" He smiled cockily. "Yeah. For example, you come off as a hard jackass, but you're really just a sensitive teddy bear." I couldn't stop smiling. "Shh! I've got a reputation to protect!" He said dramatically, and I laughed at his childish behavior. "Now back to business. My bikes over here. Just follow me alright?" He said, and I nodded my head. After about 10 minutes of driving, we pulled up outside of a quant little house. I watched as Jake gpt off his bike, so I unbuckled and got out of the car. I grabbed the bag with my clothes and slung it over my shoulder. When I turned back towards the house, Jake was beside me. "Heads up about my sister, she's a firecracker." He said as we began walking. "What do you mean?" I looked at him. "I mean she's gonna say things she doesn't mean. Rude things. But it's only because she's protective of me." He warned. "Well what kind of things?" I asked. "You'll see. Just do your best to ignore her." He sighed and then opened the door to his house. "JAAAKEE!" I heard a little girl yell from inside, and then I heard footsteps running towards the door. "Hey Syd!" Jake yelled, and skillfully wrapped his arms around the little girl as she threw herself at him. "Who's this?" She asked once she noticed me. "This is my friend Shannon. She's gonna stay with us for a bit. Is that ok?" He asked politely. "Just as long as she's not like the last one." She answered. Last one. "She's nothing like the last one. I think you might actually like her." He whispered the last sentence and his sister, Syd I think he called her? Stared at me with a judgmental look. I gave her a small smile and waved. "You're right. She's not like the last one." She looked at Jake. "I told you. Now if you'll excuse us, we have to get to bed. We both have school in the morning." He said as he messed up her hair. "It's your bedtime too Sydney!" Another voice, his mother's, yelled. Sydney roller her eyes and stomped to her bedroom. Jake shut the door behind me, and I finally got a good look at his mom. She was pretty. She looked slightly worn out, but you could still tell she was an attractive woman. Jake lead me over to her and introduced me. "Mom, this is my friend Shannon." He smiled. She gave me a faint smile and then turned around and left. "Come on." Jake sighed and grabbed my hand. I didn't know where I thought I was headed, but when I ended up in his bedroom I became very aware of how small his house was. "Sorry about them. They're not too fond of most of my female company." He apologized. Atleast, I think it was an apology. "Right." I nodded my head. "You can sleep in here, I'll sleep on the couch for tonight. We can trade tomorrow." He said, before I could protest. He fixed up the bed and handed me an extra blanket. "Does everything look ok? Do you need anything else? More pillows, a fan, water, anything?" He asked. "Jake," I put my hand on his shoulder to calm him. "Everything's great. Thank you." I smiled. I seen him take a deep breath and return my smile. "You're welcome." He replied. We looked at each other for a few seconds before he cleared his throat and looked away. "Right. Well I'll let you get some sleep. Good night." He said, and then left before I could reply. "Good night." I whispered anyway, and then climbed in bed and fell asleep.
