CHAPTER 5: Reunited

20 – Aera, 22 – Mujin

On the day of his release, Mujin went immediately to her house. It was a long weekend, so he was sure that she'd be home. "Aera!"

She was rushing to open the gate. She knew all too well whose voice it was. When she finally opened it, a smiling Mujin greeted her. "Mujin!" She wrapped her arms around him, pulling her friend for a hug.

They stayed in that position for a while before Mujin pulled away.

"Let's go to the sea?"

Aera stared at him from his head to toe, he hasn't even changed into his regular clothes yet. "Right now? But you just got home—" He didn't even let her finish as he pulled her along with him.

"Mr. Park only allowed me to use it for today, hurry."

At the beach, they sat side by side while watching the sunset. Talking about everything that happened in their lives for the past two years, just catching up.

"So, how's your studies?" Mujin asked, looking at her face, making up for all the times that he couldn't.

Aera did the same. She had missed him too. "Well, it's going really well, and I'm getting more interested in it the more I study."

Mujin looked pleased to hear this. He was also pleased to see how passionate she looked right now. Ah, there's the Aera he knows. "Then can I trust you to be the one to build my own building in the future?"

Aera chuckled, looking at his face. "Of course. But only if you can afford my services."

She joked while averting her gaze wit a smile of her face, waiting for his reaction, only to receive none. She turned around to check on him, Mujin wasn't smiling.

There was that smile again that he had missed for two years. He couldn't stop himself anymore, so he let his eyes fall on her lips. Which didn't go unnoticed for Aera. She felt the same thing. She, too, had missed him too much.

He switched his gaze from her lips back to her eyes, and he saw the way she was staring at him. "I can kiss you now, right?" He whispered, wanting to make sure that she wanted this too.

No reply, she just stared at him. Mujin was about to repeat his question again, but before he could even open his mouth, Aera had already leaned in and closed the gap between them. Mujin immediately kissed her back as he placed his right hand behind her neck to deepen the kiss.

After years of waiting, they're finally here.

When they pulled away from the kiss, Mujin was grinning from ear to ear. Aera, on the other hand, was turning red, a little embarrassed by her boldness as she finally realized what she just did. She had formed a massive crush on Choi Mujin ever since she first heard him saying his name in front of their class, and four years later, he's her first kiss.

The thought only made her blush more.

She cleared her throat, averting her gaze from the grinning idiot who was still in his military uniform. "You have to understand, I have waited too long for this."

Mujin's smile grew even wider. He can't help but to laugh softly at her sudden confession and how she looked right now after initiating their kiss. "I know, me too." He gently took her chin with his fingers to make her look at him once again. "Now, shouldn't we be making up for all the times we've lost?" He whispered as he closed the gap between them once again.
