Apparently, there were quite a few girls listening in to their conversation. One of them came over after the period ended and said "Anna, I heard you applied only for Ricky West... I just hope you know what Monica's planning. She won't let the lunch break thing go. She plans to do something tomorrow, and just before the crew is going to come to take preliminary shots of all the girls who've applied. She plans on ruining your preliminary tomorrow, I think."

"Thanks for the warning, Shauna. I'll probably just bunk the preliminary then, I guess..." Anna replied, glad to have found a way to get out of the modelling thing. Shauna went away quickly, before Monica could spot her, but she was taken aback by Anna's answer.

"Why would you do that?" Marie asked. "I know you're not into this modelling thing and you really should be careful when Monica has it in for you, but the best way to show her that you don't care is to turn up for the preliminaries any way."

Anna smiled. "You're right. I'll come tomorrow."

Marie admired Anna for this. She did things her own way, and didn't give a care about the world. And yet she did care about her friends. If the preliminary shots were this expendable to her, then she'd probably been getting bored when Marie had been mooning over Ricky West. But still Anna had done a great job of pretending to hear her out, and even asking the right questions at the right time. This somehow made Marie feel closer than ever to her best friend, Analemma Wrenner.
