Back in Stingray, Phones was monitoring Thunderbird Four's progress on his headphones, when he suddenly began picking up a signal from another craft, a signal that he recognised all too well.
"Troy, there's a Mechanical Fish in the area, and it's closing in on Thunderbird Four!"
Troy reacted at once, switching the radio back on. "Thunderbird Four from Stingray! Take evasive action! Hostile craft approaching your position!"
Gordon had already picked up the craft on his sonar scanner and he immediately pulled on the controls and sent Thunderbird Four on a sharp turn to the left, just as the Mechanical Fish fired a missile at him. Thunderbird Four just narrowly got out of the path of the missile, which carried on moving forwards before colliding with some rocks with a tremendous explosion.
"Phew, that was close," breathed Gordon, though he knew the danger was not over yet. The Mechanical Fish was now in hot pursuit and had already launched a second missile. Again, Gordon was able to evade the deadly projectile, but he knew he could not keep evading the barrage of missiles forever, and he could not fire back, as his own missiles had been modified to distribute the foam formula, and as such, most of the stronger detonators had been removed to lessen the risk of causing further damage to the cliff-edge.
"Gordon! Are you okay?" came Virgil's worried voice over the radio.
"For the moment," said Gordon grimly. "There's a nasty big fish down here that wants to play cat-and-mouse, and it's decided that I'm the mouse!"
Back in the Mechanical Fish, the two Aquaphibians were amazed at the incredible speed that the strange Terranean craft was moving.
