With a mighty roar, Thunderbird One's thrusters engaged and the giant silver rocket launched itself through the open hole where the sliding swimming pool had been just a few minutes ago, and up high into the sky. In the main cockpit, Scott set the incredible craft to horizontal height, before setting course for Marineville, fully aware that back on Tracy Island, Thunderbird Two would by this time also be launching from its ramp and heading for the disaster zone.

Switching on his radio, Scott opened a frequency to put him in touch with the headquarters of the World Aquanaut Security Patrol. "Marineville Tower, this is International Rescue, Thunderbird One. Come in, Marineville."

Through the radio, Atlanta Shore's voice could be heard clearly. "Thunderbird One, this is Marineville, Lieutenant Shore speaking. We are receiving you A-OK. What is your estimated time of arrival?"

"ETA, thirty minutes," responded Scott. "Is there any more news of Sea-Base Neptune?"

"Not much," responded Atlanta. "The cliff-edge seems to be holding for now, so we're hopeful that Stingray should reach there in time. However, without the right equipment, there is not much we can do to reach those trapped men. We also have reason to believe that there might be a saboteur at work and he might still be in the area."

"Right," said Scott. "As soon as I land, I'll need men and transport to take my portable equipment to the control tower. I'll also need detailed schematics of the base to transmit to the pilot of Thunderbird Two."
