Dixie's POV-

Noah and I's apartment was in the middle of the city. This meant that the traffic was horrendous, even at night. I look out the windshield in front of me, seeing Noah take a bunch of different exits followed by random turns that I thought lead to nowhere. My anxiety was at an all time spike, and I could feel my heart rate going up by the second.

"Noah w-what if she doesn't make it? What if I mess up? What if her coming early is all my faul-" Noah cut me off squeezing my hand firmly as another contraction came along. "Dixie honey, you need to stop with this nonsense. You and the baby are going to be just fine I promise. You're gonna have a healthy delivery, and I'll be there with you the whole time. Look at you! You've not complained once about the constant pain and tears, and you're still pushing through for her.. for her Dixie. I'm so proud of you my love" He ended his pep talk with a little smile and the side eye look that makes me go crazy. The butterflies he gives me are insane, even though we've been together for over 3 years.

About 5 minutes later we arrived at the hospital, Noah parking the closest he could to the entryway. He didn't care if he wasn't supposed to park there, and he didn't care about any tickets that he'd find on our car when we went to leave. As long as I was ok, that's all he cared about. He walked over to my side, carefully helping me stand up while carrying our bags inside.

We got checked in, and a nurse from the front brought us into a birthing room that we had all to ourselves. I was so weak, but managed to change into a hospital gown seconds before another contraction hit. Noah was setting up my bed, but looked over and saw me gripping onto the door handle with tears welling in my eyes. He raced over and helped me to the bed, kneeling in front of me and talking me through it. The best husband to exist.

I heard the door open, and in walked Dr. Steff, my doctor whose been with me since I was young. She was helping with the delivery of little miss K, and I couldn't be happier. She was the sweetest, and I have full trust in her. She walked me through how this whole birthing process is going to go, and also had me do some breathing exercises. She knew I had anxiety, as any first time mom would. "I'm just concerned because she's only just 37 weeks, will this mean anything scary?" I asked the doctor. "Not at all. You'll see her weight be much lower than a full term baby, but it won't be a catastrophic difference. Maybe a couple pounds, three at the most." She replied to me with a smile.

Dr. Steff  brought her clipboard over and asked me some more questions. Once she finished she came over to check my dilation and I was already at a 5. "I'm just going to feel for the baby's head ok, you might feel a little discomfort." The doctor said. "Oh wow, I definitely feel some hair!" She said with excitement. "Hair?! Oh my god." I said, my face filled with pure shock.

"Alright well you're moving along pretty quickly, so I must ask.. would you like to get an epidural or go fully natural?" Dr. Steff asked as she dried her hands off with a paper towel. "Yes... I mean epidural please and thank you." I replied out of breath. "Sounds great. I'll be back In a few minutes." She said walking towards the door, gently closing it behind her.

"Do you want to call your parents baby??" Noah asked as he grabbed his phone from the bag beside my bed. "Oh my god I totally forgot they existed.. and of course." I responded. I was seriously so focused on getting to the hospital with no complications that I forgot we had parents. Noah called my moms phone first. My Mom, Dad & Charli are still here in NY, as their flights got cancelled. I was glad we were still in the same time zone for a couple more weeks, and now they'll get to meet the baby before they go back home.

Noah handed me his phone, and within 2 rings my mom answered. "Hi mom." I said with a big smile on my face. Her expression changed instantly once she realized where I was. "A-Are you in labour Dixie?!" She asked, her hand covering her mouth. "Yes I am!! Already 5 cm!" I replied moving a little closer to Noah. "Oh honey I'm so excited right now. You're making me emotional." my mom said wiping her tears away. "Don't cry mom! I just wanted to let you guys know now, as she'll be here in a couple hours." I said with a happy expression. "Alright sweetheart.. Charli's not home and your dads downstairs, but please call us when she's here!!" She spoke with enthusiasm.
