Baby

I spent the night thinking about the options that I had. In that moment, just a few came to my mind. I could ask Rachel if she wanted to date Olli, but I remembered I didn't have the right. But what if I was with someone? Would she be bothered or not? I didn't want to loose her and any of those two options could lead me to that, so I just thought about it until I fell asleep.

The alarm broke the silence in the room, although I could still hear Olli's one. His black metal alarm started blasting from 10 to 12 in ever shorter intervals.

—Turn that off—Rachel complained. It was the first night that she hadn't want to have sex and I didn't ask for it.
—We have to get up, have breakfast and end up with your packing because someone fell asleep without finishing her suitcase.
—Shut up—she hit the mattress with her eyes closed thinking I was still there, but I had already started to dress up and I laughed.
—Let's go to the hotel coffee shop. They have hot brownies.
—With ice-cream?—she opened her eyes.
—Yeah, with ice-cream—I smiled. She was so cute.
—Wait!—she got up so quickly and when she came up of the bathroom, we were ready to go.
—Amazing—I shaked my head.
—Let's go! —she dragged me through the corridor by the hand.
—Good morning—Niko smiled—. How have you made her wake up this early?
—He told me that they have hot brownies with ice-cream in here!—she said excitedly. I found so adorable and funny the fact that she was shorter than Niko, literally, her head went just up to my chest.
—Olli!—she ran to hug him when he came down the stairs. He lifted her, I pursed my lips and sighed.
—What's up, baby?—he said when her feet were back on the floor.
—Let's take a sit—I forced myself to stop looking at them.

I realized how powerful that baby had sounded coming from him, when I told her the same that night when she got really drunk and I thought I was loosing her...for me it sounded like a way to show how much I needed to protect her. I hated hearing him calling her baby, she was my baby, not his. I felt the jealousy grow inside of me although I tried to just let it go. It kept repeating inside my head.

They sat together and I looked at Joonas with an intense pain in my chest, he looked down. I tried to keep up with the conversation as much as I could. I had always been very skilled to pretend to be fine. I couldn't help staring at them sometimes and when I did it, I regretted it. They talked to each other, giggled, smiled...Rachel even gave him a piece of her brownie. I knew her well enough to know that she never shared her chocolate with anyone, although it seems silly. I sighed while trying to pass the apple cake I had ordered through the knot in my throat.

—We have to end packing up my things—she looked at me when we left the coffee shop.
—It's true, let's go—I nodded forcing myself to smile. I was feeling defeated.
—See you later, baby—Olli smiled.
—It wont be long—he left a kiss on her cheek and I started going up the stairs—. Wait for me!
