This rant about the two things that irk me the most when talking about people with people.

People describing skin color:
It has always annoyed me when people use food to describe the skin color of POC. There are words out there to describe color, use them! It's so awkward to listen to people describing someone and they use "chocolate, olive, caramel, etc". I'm not an item to be digested so please stop comparing me to one.

People using "him or her":
There are plenty of words in the English language that are gender inclusive, so going out of your way to say "him or her" is an unnecessary waste of breath. Just say they! It includes everyone. If you aren't writing an essay that has a high word count, there's no need for it. Don't waste your own time to completely ignore inclusive words. Like instead of saying "little boys and girls", say "children". It's not that hard.
