All our stuff was moved in by around two o'clock. Or at least they were piled into a room and we would start unpacking tomorrow. Not me, however. I started working on my room and decorating it to perfection. I wanted it to be as cute as possible and I wanted to set up cute lights everywhere so I wouldn't get scared at night.
I took my boxes upstairs because I was feeling better. My room was looking a little dull without that "Rebekah Touch". Not the walls though. The walls were a gorgeous green color. It looked like a blueish emerald color. It was so smooth and almost untouched. The flooring was a good sturdy teakwood that creaked just barely when you walked on it. The trim was a basic and well painted white.
"Here we go," I said optimistically while rolling up my sleeves. I unfolded the top of the box that held a few things of mine. "Okay, my compass, a few books, hiking map from mom..."
I mumbled for a few more minutes unpacking random things from my boxes. I finally found the LED strip lights. My plan was all sorted out.
I had Toby help me put together my beautiful bed with a smooth wooden headboard that almost matches the flooring. I flicked Toby a nice shiny quarter and on the back it, was from Michigan (he likes to collect the ones from all the different states). Got my mattress all set up and my bedspread on it. It was this splatter painting inspired bedspread with four or so different blues of the dark variety. It fit perfectly with my walls. I got white pillows with a blue sewn strip across the middle to match with my bedspread and the wall trim.
My mother walked inside as soon as I put my lovely bed into place. "Hey kiddo. Shoulder doing fine?" I was surprised she never complimented me on putting together my bed so fast. Even ouch I had help.
"Mhm. I'm a little short even on a chair to do my LED strip lights and I don't want my shoulder to start acting up. Can you help me with that while I figure out the rest?" I asked going to my box to grab the lights for her.
"Actually, I kinda woke up sore in my shoulder too. It started hurting shortly before you kids came back inside this morning," she said kinda half frowning while inspecting around my room.
"Huh that's strange. Which shoulder if you don't mind me asking?" I said a little suspicious. Things were starting to get really creepy since we just arrived and it only got stranger for me.
"Right shoulder. Must have fallen asleep funny. It started getting sore after we were almost done moving things inside so I stuck with the boxes I could carry," she said kinda trailing off.
"Things have been getting weird since we moved in. Do you agree at all? My right shoulder hurts too and I found some suspicious things on the third floor and Roofus kinda gave off that he was really nervous," I said pausing in place kinda feeling a little uneasy.
"A little bit. It's probably just the house. It is a rather eerie house and there's said rumors about it that my grandpa once told me before grandma died. Why don't we give the boys a job huh?" Said mom trying to make me feel better.
"Roofus and Toby?"
"Yes. Let's let Roofus warn us whenever something weird may happen, and Toby check it out with his strange little brain," mom giggled. It was working because I felt better.
"I'll have to encourage him so he is more confident to stand up for the ladies. After all he is the man of the house now." I explained standing up with a box and setting it on my bed.
"Can I help you figure things out at all with your design? I have a masters degree in visual arts and I know a thing or two about decorating." Mom said flopping down onto my bed.
