Mom pulled into I think the longest driveway I'd ever seen before. Actually it wasn't that long of a driveway, but since I come from a rather crowded town, it looked big to me.
"Holy crap. That's one big house." Toby said softly. His eyes were glued onto that house.
Mine were too. I couldn't believe we would be living there! It was a light grey house with a dark green trim that almost had the image of a castle. The roof had spikey parts to it that made it look royal. The front door had stained glass at the top and the whole entire house was creepy, but in a good way. It was almost, whimsical. Yeah, that was the right word.
Mom parked but looked around strangely. "Where are the moving trucks?" She muttered shading her eyes frim the sun.
"Maybe just late," I said almost like I was hypnotized. "Can we go inside?"
"Yes, lets go pick out our rooms!" Mom said then whispered to both of us, "There is a ton of rooms in there."
Honestly, I wasn't surprised. It was a three story house! Mom unlocked the door. The key was rather strange looking. Almost like it was crafted to be crooked on purpose. The front of the house when you went in, had a living room to your right, another room to the left, but it had curtains off to the side. Almost felt like a stage.
Toby and I ran around the house. The bottom level was a whole circle and the stairs were in the living room and in the family the room thing. In the back was the kitchen and a huge sliding door to the backyard. The grass was a little sad but knowing my family, that would not last long. The second floor was interesting There were so many rooms. I counted one on the bottom floor and five on the second floor. Toby picked a room on the second floor on the other side of mine. They both had small little balcony's that curved around the house, and of course he wanted to see me on the balcony when I went out there to read or something. There were sort of spiral stairs on the family room side of the house and on the living room side. They were so cool and old and creaky. Toby was beyond fascinated because of the whole being interested in paranormal stuff. My room was on the right side of the house, and Toby's on the left. Mom chose the room that faced the front of the house but had a deck that curved around the house so she could see Toby.
We just dropped the suit cases and backpacks that we stuffed into our car, into our rooms and were about to explore the third floor but, "Kids come down here and help me carry in all the rest of your crap!" Hollered mom.
I was exited. So exited. I rushed around the house so fast that I didn't even realized the gorgeous chandelier right in front of the door.
Mom was on the floor in the living room arguing with someone on the phone, "Seriously how could you have lost the moving trucks?! I know... yes yes I know! It just makes zero sense! Alright, thank you. Yes we will be fine. Bye."
" Wha-" I started out but Toby interrupted me.
"The trucks are gone?! Spooooky!" He exclaimed and ran out to the car.
"Ahem! They lost the trucks?" I asked politely.
"Yeah, we won't get the rest of our stuff until they find the trucks. They even got police involved because the drivers wouldn't respond to anyone. Let's not worry about it right now." She sighed and shoved her phone into her pocket.
Later I set up my room to the best of my ability (that meaning I set my suitcase in there). I couldn't sleep in there obviously because of my bed gone. We decided on sleeping on the first floor since there were some old couches scattered around downstairs. We told Toby at dinner time, and of course he broke out into his nerdy demon ghost thing and how this part of the state had higher ghost activity. I just hoped he was wrong about that.
