Chapter 7
I sit on my bed, flipping through my math book when I hear knocking.
It's been almost a week since I smashed Jesse into the wall, and I'm bored as hell cooped up in my room doing homework.
"Go away, studying math!" I lie to the intruder. The knocking continues. A steady rhythm, like a heart beating in slow motion, every few seconds...click...click...click.
I get up and open my door, but no one's there, and the knocking is still there...click...click...click.
I notice the noise now, it sounds different like a pebble being thrown against glass. I walk towards my window and open it, only to get a pebble in the forehead.
"Ouch..." I rub my head and look down at the culprit. I blink a few times. "What are you doing? How'd you sneak out?" I ask the male figure standing under my window.
He smirks. "I was bored Red. Jumped out of my window and came here to see if you wanted to break a few more rules."
I look at him sceptically, and shake my head no.
"Oh come on Red, you're bored, I'm bored, and I'm pretty sure that math book of yours isn't really entertaining enough for the both of us." Jesse says with a smirk.
I blush slightly. "You heard that?" I ask in an embarrassed tone.
"Please Red, China heard you. Now come on, I can't stand here forever you know." Jesse says while he waves at me to come down.
"Parker, this is a bad idea. If we get caught, we're dead and I don't want to spend my birthday in a cage, chained up to some pole!" I say knowing that I'm over reacting about the pole bit.
"Red, stop over reacting. Stone's helping cover, as far as anyone else knows you're at his house working on a math project. And plus, you said yourself you never actually listen to your mom." Jesse points out. He acts like he's the book of all answers in the world sometimes.
"Yeah, I don't under normal circumstances, but I've never actually, before a week ago, physically put a giant hole in our wall which, by the way , mocks me every single time I walk down those stairs." I say while I point in the general direction of my bedroom door.
"Please Red, just be a rebel and jump."
"Why do you care so much about this anyway?" I shoot at him.
"Because I'm boooooooored!!!" He wails.
I ponder on the thought of being, well, me and ditching this hell hole that calls itself my bedroom.
Before I can answer, Jesse steps in. "And I know you're bored because we are a lot alike."
"We are so not! Name three things we have in common, besides the obvious one that we're both werewolves and live in the same house." I say from my window. If he can get this right, I'll jump I tell myself.
"Alright, well we're both stubborn, don't care what other people think about us, short tempered, good looking...me more than you obviously." He winks. "What else...oh right, we both hate math, even if I'm a genius in it, and we both hate cats with a passion. We're determined and our pride might get the best of us sometimes—"
"Alright, alright I get it, we do have a lot in common. It's kinda freaky how you even notice that." I say while I swing my leg over the window and jump down. I land on the balls of my feet and walk to stand beside Jesse.
"I guess. Huh, I just named a bunch of stuff I am and then kinda realized 'oh hey look, Red has those same qualities.'" Jesse says in a tone of fake realisation.
