Chapter 19
Monday comes around, and everything is so awkward. I still wear long sleeved shirts, skinny jeans and boots. I walk around the halls with my hood over my head and my biker gloves on my hands. Jesse and I haven’t “officially” broken up, because we suspect that some of the Redrock pack members might still not know, but I am not going near him, it’s too dangerous. I can’t go near any boy because I don’t want to be claimed.
I get quizzical looks from the people around me, but I ignore them. I know I look odd, I’m covered from head to toe, obviously it’s not normal.
I ride my bike to school now, and avoid busy halls. I don’t sit with the guys anymore, and ignore all the rest. Meredith and the twins are wondering what the hell is wrong with me, but that’s okay.
I’ve always been strange.
I sigh as I pull my hood closer to my face and my gloves higher. Today is really not my day.
But on the positive side; I’ve convinced some guys to keep watch on the twins and Meredith because of Matt’s threat, so I’m not too worried about them anymore, but it still nags at my brain once in a while.
Math’s my next subject which means not only Matt, but Jesse and Zane too. I sigh again; this is going to be fun.
I push open the door and notice I’m one of the last people to enter the room. I go quickly to my seat and slump down, not pulling my hood down just yet. Jesse and Zane give me odd looks, but Matt only gives me knowing smirks and Taylor? Well he’s just doing the usual; glaring at Jesse and smelling bad. I still don’t know what he has against Jesse, but I really don’t care, not right now that is...
“Tyra, I’m liking the new look; even got gloves on I see.” Matt teases.
I glare at him from under my hood so half my face is obscured by a shadow. “Well it’s no help to you that I have a new fashion statement.” I hiss at him.
“What a girl will do for the people she loves, even a heartless one.”
I’m about to open my mouth and yell at him, but Mrs. Young cuts me off. Perfect timing as usual. “Miss Red, no hats in class.” She says after giving me a pointed look.
“It’s not like I’ve followed the rules before.” I mumble to myself as I pull off the large hood from my head.
“What was that?” Mrs. Young asks.
How the hell can she hear me? She’s like sixty!
“Nothing, just said sure.”
“Uh-huh.” Mrs. Young rolls her eyes and begins the lesson.
“I hope you don’t have that attitude in a week my dear, the party won’t be pleasant otherwise.” Matt whispers in my ear.
I jerk back in surprise, and so he doesn’t touch my ear. What he says registers in my brain and I growl at him.
“For as long as I can postpone your “party” you will get nothing of the sort.”
“Hey Red you ok—” Jesse begins, but I life my hand up with my palm facing away.
“Don’t,” I begin. “touch me.”
Jesse shrinks back into his seat and Matt snickers.
I really want to smash Matt’s face right now.

At lunch, everything takes a turn for the worst. Well not for everyone I suppose, but definitely me.
