Sasha and I had texted non stop during the entire English period, thankfully relieving me of a conversation with Michael.
Her and myself hadn't caught up in a while, so we had decided to do something after school. She apparently had something exciting to tell me. I hadn't told her anything about last night, but assumed Calum had more than likely let something slip to her.
The period bored on, but was thankfully over soon enough. I yelled a see you to Michael the minute I got out of the chair, rushing for the door. I had time to kill before my next class, which was 15 minutes away on the next block over. I decided to sit at the table around the corner, away from view of where Michael needed to go.
As I rounded the corner, I noticed Ashton sitting on one of the tables. I wanted to take the opportunity to sit and get to know him more, but he seemed to be engrossed in the book in front of him. It made me wonder if it was for the history subject he had asked me for help about.
The courtyard was buzzing as everyone was making their way around in between classes. It makes you wonder what they're thinking about. I went to put my airpods in to drown out the noise, but was quickly interrupted.
"Hey stranger. Charlotte, right?" I looked up, my eyes locking on to the hazel eyes I had met earlier this morning. "Huge thanks again." He held up a text book, The Great Depression written in bold on the front cover. "Got it."
I chuckled lightly as he took a seat. A new friend? "Hey, pays off when you spend all of freshman year neck deep in books. It's classy."
He gestured, asking if he could have a seat, which I happily accepted. "I hope you don't mind; just here to study."
And with that the conversation ceased. He placed his headphones back in his years and opened up the text book. I put my airpods in, too, putting on my favourite murder mystery podcast. Having company while you were doing absolutely nothing was such a nice feeling.
Ashton and I sat doing our own thing until we both packed up for our next class, exchanging a quick goodbye.

Sasha could not get out of the car any fast when she pulled into my driveway. "Char! Dude, I have so much to tell you."
I gave her a big hug before she followed me through my house and into my room. It had seem like such a lifetime ago that her and I had really caught up on everything. A lot of my time had been spent with Michael lately, and hers with Calum. I'm glad that we were the type of friends that don't need to spend every waking moment together. No matter how far apart we ended up, we would alway be best friends.
She started on a tangent about Calum's Dad and how he had completely taken her under his wing and was so accepting of her. It was really nice to hear. Sasha and her mum are such a huge part of my life. Grace, Sasha's mum, had helped Blake and myself out so much when Mum crashed. She was the second mum to me. I couldn't wait to go over and catch up with her, finally meeting her soon to be husband.
"But, oh my golly gosh, Char, there's this boy!"
I haven't heard Sasha talk about a boy in her life since ninth grade. There was once this boy named Noah that broke her heart. After he broke things off with her on camp, she had made a solid vow to never, not ever, be romantically involved with a boy ever.
"He has these perfect dimples, and his hair, it's beautiful and black! He graduated last year. I don't know if you remember Daryl? Well, Daryl played soccer with him. His name's Finn. He is absolutely beautiful. He added me on Facebook a few weeks ago and we've been chatting."
The way Sasha was talking made me laugh. She was so excited she was running out of breath.
"I'm supposed to go out for lunch with him in an hour but I honestly have nothing to wear! I need bestie advice!"
