I peer the sea,
The swaths of sound,
A roar, and it bleeds,
The sway of thrashing trees,
The stories of life,
That life can only tell,
The ship of insignificance,
The sail to honor,
A raft to ponder,
A small thought but, oh the wonder,
This life of mine,
The sights I've seen,
Nothing close to divine,
The sounds I've made,
The touch of my hands in sand,
The feet I have,
And stance I've made,
The feel of no shame,
A bucket only full of sand,
The gains of hope,
That'll teach all their hands,
This life of mine the creviced heart and blind,
The reaching hands again,
Disdained with nothing but vain,
I jump the ship,
A wooden, nothing but frame, hated trip,
And afloat I ponder the raft,
There I and alone is bliss,
There she is dismissed,
There I and I leave trace to my story,
There the rafts of life,
Driftwood and light,
Leave a mark to tell and to sea and grains of sand.
