Terushima Kiyoto grunted and heaved, but she just couldn't get the pig to move. She could already hear her phone beeping with the constant messages from her friends, probably impatiently inquiring about her whereabouts. "Ah, sheesh! You're so heavy, nii-san! Seriously! Just move! I don't need you to come with me! It's not like me and my friends will be at the mall ourselves or anything!"
Her older brother snorted at his twelve-year-old sister. "No can do, Ki-chan. I'm coming with you. Mum said. And I'm not about to get in trouble with that mad dog after she got fired. She whips people like hell." Terushima Yuji shuddered at the thought. He'd been tortured by the whipping of the belt by his mother since he was young. His cheeky attitude just got the better of him almost all the time.
Kiyoto was supposed to meet with her friends at the public pool today; her mum had agreed to let her go by herself, but changed her mind at the last minute. The girl couldn't have hoped for a worse supervisor than her brother. She sighed exasperatedly. "Fine! Just hurry your lazy ass! And don't be saying inappropriate comments in front of me and my friends!" Kiyoto stomped off with her smug brother trailing behind her.
"What do you mean by inappropriate? Does lazy ass count as appropriate then?" Yuji asked lightly, cackling at the pissed expression Kiyoto shot him.
"Shut up," she hissed before slamming the entrance doors behind her. Yuji merely sighed with a smile, and opened the door up again, apologising to the passing elderly woman.
^v^
"Teru-chan! Finally! What took you so long?" A girl jumped up and waved at Kiyoto as she walked into the stuffy indoor pool. "I tried texting you a bunch of times."
"Yeah, sorry about that. My pig of a brother was being stubborn again," Kiyoto sighed as she unzipped her swimming bag. "I'm going to get changed. Wait a while for me. Oh yeah, by the way, that's my brother. Be careful, he's a creep." As Kiyoto walked away to the changing rooms, she could hear familiar giggling. I wonder what's going on; it'd better not be nii-san again.
^v^
The giggles erupted into laughter as Yuji twisted his smile into smirk and flexed his upper torso. "I've, you know, been working out and stuff. Nothing as light weight as swimming. Volleyball's a bit more difficult. My team's going to nationals, you know."
"Nii-san!" Kiyoto's face was coated with white anger. "What the heck are you doing in your swimming trunks!? I thought I already told you; we're not only here for fun, we're going to train as well, you dumbass! You were supposed to supervise, not join in!"
"I thought we weren't allowed to have any inappropriate comments?" Yuji wiggled his eyebrows, making the girls crack up even more. Kiyoto sent them a wicked glare, shutting them up immediately. "Plus, I thought it would be fun to join you guys! You haven't invited me to any swim meets for a long time. I wanna see how my little sis has improved! Are you too embarrassed to show your nii-san your small improvements? Or maybe you haven't improved at all." His cheeky, smug smirk tugged at her temper. Kiyoto wanted to punch him so badly but she just couldn't resist the challenge.
Kiyoto shoved her swimming bag into her friend's arms as she stormed up to the edge of the pool. The hundred meter long pool awaited her, it was merely a step away. She could already feel the water splashing against her cool skin, tasting victory and then seeing her brother's awed face. "I'll show you," she hissed. "You better watch carefully, you lazy-" She dove into the water. The arc was high and long - perfect.
Yuji watched in amazement as his sister cut through the water like a dolphin, barely skimming past the surface in her freestyle, her favourite stroke. Kiyoto moved like a shark, cunning and vicious against the salty sea, but so smooth that it was satisfying to watch. And she was fast, quicker than Yuji had ever seen her.
"Fast right? She's the best in the team," one of her friends commented wistfully, "I wish I could swim like her."
Yuji nodded. "Quite impressive."
^v^
Kiyoto jumped out of the pool, heaving deep breaths. Still, she couldn't keep the sharp smile out of her face. "So? Good enough for you?"
Yuji sighed and nodded. "You were really good - much better than before. If only swimming was considered a sport that required skilled athletes... Really, just dancing in the water doesn't take much. Now, volleyball is a fight against gravity, against your own body. That's what really challenges you."
Kiyoto snarled, "HUH?! YOU SAYING THAT SWIMMING DOESN'T TAKE EFFORT? THE HELL?! SHUT UP - YOU DON'T KNOW NOTHING! SWIMMING IS BETTER, AND NEEDS MORE EFFORT THAN WHATEVER YOU DO! VOLLEYBALL IS SO MUCH EASIER! STUPID!" She was fuming, not even able to form proper arguments. No one talked trash about her sport, especially her brother.
The older boy grinned and patted her head which just about reached his chest. "I was kidding! You were awesome, Ki-chan. I know swimming is hard. I was just joking about, like I always do. But seriously, take a chill pill, sister."
She relaxed her expression and smirked. "When are you going to admit that swimming is harder than volleyball? Water has more weight and more mass than air, stupid."
