Prologue

"Don't do it, please"

she pleaded with him, but all in vain. With his back towards her, he said nothing but his silence told her that he will do what he has decided. She sighed defeated. Approaching him slowly, she hugged him from behind, tightening her hands around his torso, inhaling his scent, engraving everything in her mind like it was the last moment she will see him. She felt like not only he was leaving for war, he was leaving her behind which she couldn't handle after everything.

The pain they both are aware of now, melted away in each other's warmth. Slowly he removed her hands and turned around. Holding her face in his hands, he kissed her forehead for a long while, showing what he feels. She closed her eyes, a tear drop fell from her eye on his thumb resting softly against her cheek. Pulling back, he wiped it away. Looking intensely in the eyes, they both drank the other to fill their soul to the brim. Leaning in, he kissed her deeply, molding his lips to hers. Pouring her every feeling into the kiss, she kissed him back passionately. Her every cell begging for him. He feverishly kissed her, thrusting his tongue inside her mouth, exploring every corner.

Separating their lips, her eyes filled with tears, the moment she dreaded was coming closer, she leaped into his arms hugging him. He encircled her in his arms. She tried again,

"You don't have to do this. Now you know everything. It doesn't matter what happens, please stay"

Pulling back he looked into her eyes. Completely detaching himself from her and stepping back which felt like he was slowly going away from her, her lips quivering, vision blurry but she blinked frantically to see him clearly. He announced,

"It has to be done"

With that he left her, not giving her a chance to complete her confession

"I lo--"

her unspoken words died in her throat.
I love you.
