Re-ans Chapter 19

Chapter 19: The little things

"Me, you, and Jess are sleeping in the RV tonight. Wish she wasn't dead, she could come in handy." Tavish said and he shook his head.

"It's not fair Tavish, I keep getting soft beds and everyone else gets concrete." He argued, but Tavish shook his head. He lifted up an mp3 player.

"Fully charged. Me and that couch have a date with the door of that RV, and you and Jess, have the back all to yourself." He said and turned away before Luke could argue again. He came back a few minutes later with several items. "Gum." He said and Luke tilted his head.

"Your breath smells like ass, seriously." He said and Luke laughed a little stiffly. "I tell you like it is, you know that." He pulled out some ugly ass fake flowers next from the vase Luke had seen on the bar, then pulled a candy bar out of his pocket. "Chicks like flowers and candy." He said then paused and shrugged. "Hell I guess, what do I know?" He said with a laugh. He handed him one more object before turning and walking away. "Safety first." He called over his shoulder. Luke looked down in his hand to see a condom.

"Seriously Tav." He called out and his friend just waved his hand and laughed.

"What's all that?" Jess asked, coming up behind him, he jumped. He shoved the condom in his pocket before he turned to face her.

"Flowers and candy." He said, handing them over with a laugh. "It's really from Tavish so you know." He said a moment later when she just stared in confusion at what she had in her hand. She laughed and hugged him. They just stood there contently for a moment before he sighed. "We've been given the royal treatment again. You, me, and Tav get the RV." She shook her head.

"It isn't fair." He kissed the top of her head.

"No it's not. Not that I like the idea of you sleeping on the floor." Tavish came up a minute later.

"You ready?" He asked and Luke nodded, Jess laughed.

"Thank you for my flowers and candy Tavish, it was very thoughtful." Tavish laughed.

"I had to do something, my boy had no game before this and now..." He shook his head in disappointment.

"Dude shut up." Luke said with a laugh, he kissed Jess on the cheek then stepped back. He pulled his gun and turned to the others. "One of you wanna see us out?" He asked and Gavin stood walking over. He gave Jess a hug and patted him on the shoulder before unbarricading the door.

"Love you cousins." He said and Jess smiled.

"We love you too Gav." Jess said with a smile, he shook his head as they walked out the door. What had just happened felt, weird, but yet right. They looked up and down the street. He and Tavish with guns pointed, and Jess shining her light. They didn't see anything but walked around the RV first before climbing in to make sure the area was clear. Even though the door had been shut, and Luke knew there was no chance that one had managed to sneak in and shut the door behind himself, they still checked the whole place again to make sure it was clear before lowering their guard. He wasn't willing to take any chances.

"Well I'm beat." Tavish said, walking past them. They had to move almost clear to the other side of the RV so he could push the couch up against the door. Luckily the thing seemed to be broken, because Luke would have thought it would have been bolted down or something.

He secured it in place then immediately stretched out, unwrapping the cord on the ear buds. He paused right before putting them in his ears. "Night." He said when they just stood there. Luke shook his head and led Jess back toward the bed. He closed the curtain dividing the small living room and the rest of the place. He turned to see Jess had her light on and was rooting through her bag.
