Keiji should know better, every time he enjoys doing something in his life, there should be a moment where he has to pay for it. It's always been like that, but this time, during in high school year, for some reasons, he got to enjoy it too much, that he forgot where he stood.
Not until when it his 16th birthday, when he got home after celebrating his birthday with his friends, as he enters his room, his parents are already waiting for him.
"Where have you been, keiji?" kazuyo didn't answer his son after he asked why are they in his room.
"M-mom, dad, you're home earlier than I thought"
"Why won't we? We should check on our son from time to time, right?" his mom looks at him with the expression that no one could read.
"Yes. Thank you" keiji responded as a whisper. He watches as his mom put down the picture frame she has been holding, a little hard for his liking.
"So, you've been enjoying your high school lately?" Keiji didnt know how he should respond to his father, dare him to tell them about the friends he made from his first year, his parents will be assuming he's slacking.
"Enjoying it so much that you forgot your main purpose of going to school?" his mom adds to clarify why they are in his room.
"No, i never forget that"
"Then, explain to us how you managed to only get third place of second years in the last exam?!!" His father basically shouted, keiji never felt so timid until now.
"We are so disappointed with you, you never get a result this worst in you studies" his mom says in a disappointed tone, keiji couldn't look at them in the eyes.
"We don't get it, we paid for the best tutors, bought all the books, didn't mind about the fees at all as we want only the best education for you, is this how you repay us?" his father is basically trying to guilt tripping him right now.
"Say... is it because of your friends?" Keiji was baffled, his parents shouldn't know anything about his social life, they never asked him anything other than studies, studies, studies.
"I don't understand why you teenagers always wanted to just having fun. You know that it is important for you to only focus on your studying? You have a whole competitions in your life to survive this world. There's a lot more intelligent people out there" his mom's voice is so harsh, he couldn't say anything to defend himself.
"You're so disappointing. Now, tell us honestly where did you go just now??" Again, Keiji didn't now how to answer, his parents are so mad right now. He knows none of his answer will make them happy, but not answering at all would totally make them even angrier,
