In the morning, she felt disoriented as she wasn't in her bedroom at home.
'This will take getting used to', she thought as she rubbed her eyes. Then it hit her, she was having her meeting today!
Leaping out of bed, she rushed to the bathroom and showered. She washed her hair and shaved before brushing her teeth and meticulously applying her makeup. Sienna knew that how she looked didn't matter, especially whether or not she had shaved legs in the middle of winter, but it bumped up her self confidence. And confidence was exactly what she was going to need if she was meeting someone new that determined whether or not she had a place to sleep for the next year.
She was ready for the day before 7am and her and Claudia agreed to meet at 12. Since her parents were still asleep, Sienna decided to go for a short walk to fill in time. She had a map on her phone to ensure she didn't get lost but she hardly looked at it. She was too mesmerized by the glorious sight of the rustic buildings and the sound of birds beginning to sing the city into consciousness. As she reached a pedestrian crossing, Sienna's eyes were drawn towards a piece of paper wrapped securely around a lamppost.
'New Member Wanted! Dorothy and the Dots is looking for a sixth band member, have you got what it takes to join this up and rising band to make music history? Come show them what you've got! Auditions held on February 13th at 9am. More info on our website.'
Sienna was transfixed by this poster. Dorothy and the Dots seemed to be a new or more underground band, she had never heard of them. After rejections from cafes she wondered whether this was her calling.
"Maybe I should audition, I'm a pretty good singer." Sienna's dad said, following the statement with a pitchy cover of Boston's 'More Than A Feeling'.
"I reckon." Sienna replied, laughing.
"You could audition, Si. You play piano better than anyone I know, you have the chops." Her mum suggested but Sienna just laughed more.
"I don't know, what if they want more than that? Someone who can do it all, like Dad." She replied and all three of them chuckled.
"Oh shit! It's quarter to 12, you better go!" Sienna's mother stated and her eyes widened.
"Oh my god I'm going to be late!" She exclaimed before sprinting out the door.
"Good luck! Be safe walking there! You'll do great! Love you!" Her parents called out as Sienna rushed out the door.
By swerving around people and practically jogging, Sienna made it to the coffee shop being only a few minutes over time. She internally begged Claudia to not be there yet but as she entered the store, a girl stood up and walked towards her.
"Hey! I'm Claudia, you must be Sienna!"
They shook hands before heading back to the table. Claudia greeted Sienna with the widest smile she had ever seen. She was the textbook definition of a sight for sore eyes. She had beautiful sleek narrow eyes curved as if in love with her thick dark hair, reaching for closure. Her skin was coated in tattoos that radiated an energy Sienna had never seen before and even just the way she was standing, so straight and confident, was enchanting. She felt as if she was looking in the Mirror of Erised from Harry Potter, a reflection of everything Sienna wanted to be.
"How did you guess it was me?"
"Well, I knew you were," Claudia glanced at her watch, "three minutes late, and you looked very out of breath coming into the shop so I assumed you must've been the girl rushing to get to the meeting on time."
There was a slight pause before she released a loud giggle. While Sienna caught the smiling bug from her interviewer, she still felt guilty for being late especially considering she was ready so early.
