3rd person pov
"Ok... weird cave, weird plants, weird footprints..." [y/n] mumbled as she stumbled along the caves long paths. "Arm hurts, and, from the looks of it, several hours have passed."
She stopped walking and examined her arm, "Also, this has been professionally bandaged. Obviously not William Minerva, but definitely allies of some sort."
"Demons, of course."
She followed faded footsteps of Emma and Ray, thankful that the two of them were safe and together. As she turned left, she entered in a larger cave, full of her sleeping siblings. They snored and drooled, dead asleep by the looks of it. Across the room, there was an opening to another cave. The glow of a lantern and the sound of a voice attracted her eye's attention.
[y/n] tip-toed around her siblings and hid against the wall.
"Everything began with this promise between us." Sonju started, oblivious to the child listening behind the wall.
"One half of the world was the humans and the either half, the demons. The side your on is the demons. In the end, one of the conditions of the agreement was for a group of your ancestors to be left behind here." [y/n]'s eyes widened.
'i feel like i missed out on some much needed context...'
"W-wait, what?!" Ray blurted in surprise. The sound of his voice soothed [y/n] as she straightened her posture.
"It was all part of the promise. To make sure it was kept, the demons were given stalk they could breed and manage." Sonju was cut off by Ray and Emma's fearful faces. He scoffed, continuing, "That's the whole point of the farms here. And of all the different farms there are, gracefield is one of the best; turning out high grade humans year after year... for the past 1000 years. It hasn't changed since."
[y/n] kept quiet. When faced with a situation that would show too much emotion, her instinct reaction is to become emotionless. Cut her some slack— it's hard to get out of a 7 year habit.
Ray and Emma lowered their heads in sync.
"Different worlds...?" Ray mumbled as he covered his mouth with his hand. Ray probably wouldn't have even known that he did that, and yet it still gave [y/n] butterflies.
"A promise.. between demons... and humans..." Emma bit the inside part of her cheek.
After a pause of silence, they both smiled brightly before jumping up.
"YEAH, THATS AWESOME!" They both yelled out. The smiles on their faces were genuine, and so was Sonju's confusion. They laughed in excitement as Sonju and Mujika stared in awe.
"We didn't expect it, but this is great! A whole other world!" Emma smiled at Ray. "Damn straight, it's even better than we thought!" Ray laughed, a smirk resting on his face.
"There's a separate world where humans live. A place where it's safe, without any demons!" Emma smiled, before they both cheered again.
Sonju raised his hand nervously, "Um- kids, before you get too exited about it... you can't cross over into the human side."
Emma quieted down, "How come?"
"It's part of the agreement," Sonju checked his posture, "No one's crossed over, not for the past thousand years anyway." Sonju expected her face to fill with doubt, but she smirked.
"Are you absolutely sure about that?" She smiled. "No," Sonju answered almost immediately, "But that's what I heard."
"And the human side, that's for real, right?" Ray shot back with a taunting tone. "Yes," Sonju answered again, "That's what I've been told."
