Dan's POV

I opened the door to my house, kicking off my white Vans in the corner where our other shoes were. "I'm home," I called out to my father. Mom was out at work, and Ceily (pronounced see-lee) was still in school.

"Daniel, could you come in the lounge?" My father called back. I walked down the front hallway past his study and the stairs that lead up to the bedrooms. I turned the corner into the lounge area and saw my dad sitting on the couch, messing with his hands. I nervously walked over to him and sat on the coffee table in front of him.

"Everything okay, Dad?" I asked. He shook his head. He looked up at me and tears filled his eyes. "Dad. You're scaring me. I've never seen you cry. What's the matter?"

"Dan, your mother and I are divorcing," I looked at him in shock and he dropped his head in shame. "I'm just so worried. Are you and Ceily going to be okay? What if I'm the reason you get all messed up? What if you OD and it was my fault because I wasn't a good role model? What if—?"

"Dad," I inturupted him. "It's okay. I'm an adult, I can take care of myself. It's not like you're leaving forever, we'll be seeing you every weekend, right?" He nodded. "So Ceily will live here with Mum until she goes to uni, I'll move out or pay rent for Mum, we'll see each other often, you're not abandoning us." He nodded. "Am I right?"

"Yes," He clarified. "I just wanted to tell you before we have the final signing tonight. I'll be moving out this week. I won't be far, just about an hour away. I got a job in Leeds, and I'm going to take it. Your mother and I haven't been a couple these past few years, but we finally agreed you kids are old enough to stomach this."

"I'm glad this is mutual," I said. "I wouldn't want one of you to pine for the other who's moved on. And you won't be that far. And you already have a job. This is great. It's all going to be okay, Dad."

"I'm the parent," He chuckled. "Shouldn't I be saying that?" I laughed as well.

"Dad, while you were honest for me, I need to be honest with you." He raised an eyebrow at me. "I'm bisexual." He looked at me blankly. "That means I like girls and boys."

"Oh," He said. He sounded surprised. "I thought you were fully gay. That's cool, I guess. I don't really care. I just want to know if you're dating someone."

"Well," I said. "I'm not dating anyone, but I met someone a few months back I met someone. He was cute, in a different tourchered kind of way." I saw his blue eyes in my eyelids as I blinked. "He bumped into me as I was rushing late for work, and he was rude to me. Then he went into the tattoo shop. But there was something about him that was special, even though we barley talked." My dad scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Dan, I said I was okay with you liking both," My dad chuckled. "Didn't mean I needed a detailed discription of your crushes. Just bring him or her around if y'all are ligit. Word." I face palmed, shaking my head and cringing.

"Dad, stop trying to be cool," He laughed then pushed me off the coffee table. I stood up, wincing in the pain in my butt. From sitting, of course.

"Go do what you need to do and leave me alone," He said. "I'm meeting your mother at her office to sign in an hour, and I have to go pack." He stood up as well and surprisingly pulled me into a huge bear hug. "I love you, Dan."

"I love you, too," We broke apart and I smiled at him. I went up to my bedroom and closed the door behind me, sighing. Thank God he took that well. I collapsed into bed and pulled out my phone, turning on Muse and went on Instagram.
