Chapter 3: The ceremony

Camilo POV

I am completely out of order. Hopefully my mouth is still closed, it could become quite awkward otherwise. But that girl in front of me is just enchantingly beautiful. She appears at the door with a smile on her cute red lips and a laugh I will never forget. I try to make it not that obvious but look her up and down. There are just so many details about her. Her dark brown hair is styled in two braids that lie gently on her shoulders. She covered them with a beautiful blouse that matches the bright orange skirt. My favorite color, I love everything about it! We are even matching if I put on my poncho. Her skin shines in the candlelight and the whole image is perfected by an adorable face with e/c eyes that are brighter then the stars could ever be!
Still absolutely unable to behave normal, my little brother gives me a confused look and reaches for my hand."Milo? You alright?", he half-whispers which makes the girl in front of me giggle a little. I couldn't let my eyes off her. Luckily behind her are only two boys left so I dont't make an idiot of myself in front of anyone else. "Ah... yea sure... sorry I didn't mean to...",I stutter and facepalm myself on the inside.
Toni drags me to the side and leads the girl followed by the boys inside casita. With a last confused look he leaves me at the door and I ask myself what is wrong with me. I never act like that.
Turning around to go inside, my cousin Mirabel appears magically in front of me and gives me nearly a heart attack. "I know, she wasn't there before!", I swear under my breath while she watches me carefully. A too-knowing grin sneakes on her face and gives me an uneasy feeling. She is smaller and younger but she points her finger at me and lets me know viciously:"I saw EVERYTHING! You're sooooo in love with that girl! Hehe I'm gonna go tell Isa and Luisa!" And she was gone in the crowd of people.
How am I gonna explain this? I don't even know her! Does she live here in town? Of course stupid, she wouldn't be at the ceremony if not. My thoughts in my head are running as fast as my heart is racing right now.
My older sister comes up to me, asking me to go over to the rest of the family. I shake my head, my locks falling in my face, and make my way through the crowd as Mira did before. Before I am out of reach, Dolores grabs my arm and whispers in my ear:"First time that your heart is racing that fast, isn't it mi hermano?"
I've never been so obviously blown away. After the ceremony I'm gonna ask her for a dance.
Standing with my family all the girls eyes lie on me. Ugh, I hate my cousins sometimes. Especially now when they giggle like that! But her smile... oh and her laugh. "You think of her, right? Because you have a smile all over your face", Toni detects besides me. "Oh please, not you too!", I hiss at him. The toucan in his head chirps and Toni nods in confirmation. To my surprise he answers:"Sure, we could help a little bit. Go and see if you can find her." And the toucan swings into the air with a few flaps.
I bend down to him, laying one hand on his shoulder and tell him:" Tonito, that's really nice, whatever you plan. But your big brother can handle a girl himself."
"Didn't look like that at the door, mi corazón", my mum interrupts us and I get back up. "Oh Mum, please! Not you too. Mirabel,why did you have to tell everybody?!" My cousin shrugs her shoulders and my father says:"She didn't need to say anything. It was quite obvious over there, right mi vida?" My mother kisses him on the cheek and agrees. I roll my eyes and concentrate on the ceremony, which is about to start.
I wish my nephew good luck, he is such a wonderful boy. Dolores seems to be even more nervous, standing next to the gold glowing door and holding Marianos hand. He tries to calm her down, it helps a little.
